Yoko Ono .... WTF?

It seems like every time I look at the Billboard Dance there's another polished turd from "Ono" and this is also my reaction as soon as I hear it "Oh No"! Is anyone actually running this stuff? Before you ask, yes, I've checked all the remixes and they could be so-so tracks if they had nothing to do with the awful singing that ends up on them. I'd like to see dance music do better, I used to love spinning the stuff, but stuff like "Talking to the universe" is just horrid. It actually sound like someone took an old dictaphone notation machine to record the lyrics and the clash with the music is just sickening. I do haev to admit there was one track late last year that didn't make me want to hurl, but it was forgettable, and I've forgotten the name now.

I've given up on Billboard's Dance chart. All I see are a lot of vocal tracks that
even Nancy Reagan couldn't Dance to.
IMO the whole Dance concept has been
lost by Billboard.

Billboard Dance

For as long as I can remember, the Billboard Dance chart is clueless to what's going on musically in the dance clubs.

It is based on what Billboard DJs report. They do favors by charting songs they don't even play in order to receive priorities from Labels and kick backs.

Nailed it!

They've been using their same formula for what now......30+ years?
I can never understand in this computer age why they don't let Dance folks
register and do something like PICK their top 5 and then list 5 others not listed.

The computer could tabulate their top 5 and scan and tabulate their other top 5.
I'd rather see 25,000 contribute to a chart than 100+. What would something
like that cost Billboard, my guess would be about $300+ a month (just a program
for registration and another one to tabulate the results.) It might even cost less
than what they are doing now.

But that might move Dance to the front of the line in popularity and attract attention
to Dance and the genre. Billboard honchos can't stomach the though of that.

I have a neighbor who plays Yoko Ono very loud while cleaning her place. It's really quite funny, especially when she actually sings along. I will never forget the first time my mother heard it when she came by for a visit a couple of years ago. She asked, "WTF is that?" (yes, in those terms - literally).

How about Audio Bullys featuring Nancy Sinatra: Shot You Down <early 2004 or 2005.

Although I must say that "I'm Your Angel" from the Double Fantasy album does have possibilities for teaching soft shoe or tap. ;)
