Yorke confirms WHJJ changes

Dan Yorke, in a sheepish way, confirmed what we've been hearing about WHJJ.
Dan was taking offense to one of the candidates for mayor in Cranston "declaring victory" after a recount today despite the fact that there are more legal challenges to come.
Yorke's attitude was that everyone should just declare victory then...(paraphrasing)..."I declare victory...In two to three weeks I'll be the only left standing"...then as he's chuckling louder (you know Matt Allen was rolling his eyes or making some gesture) Dan make a comment about someone nameless "retiring" whick leaves him the only one left. Then Dan (still chuckling) remarks how he'd just spent the 1st segment of his show chastizing Patrio fans for their behavior when he at that moment wasn't behaving well himself. Dan knows it was very bad form for him to talk inside baseball about another radio host. His comments meant nothing to his broader audience but those of us who've heard the rumors know exactly what Dan said.
 
Thats why Yorke is in a good mood for a change.
Good news for Yorke, but not so good, for people who want more than one afternoon show.
If Hjj still can, bring back Depetro. 3 to 6 pm. Please not Hannity.
Don't do this to the people of R.I.
What about producers Tim S and Jeremy G.?

Congratulations to Dan. He'll soon be able to win a one man race against himself. That's some feat to be proud of. Hope he can pull it off. I would give about a years salary to watch HJJ hire Depetro for afternoons. That would wipe the smile off Dans face really quick! LOL
 
Skynet, there is no hope for building a quality local station when they use syndicated shows for their drive time slots. They're fools if they think syndicated is going to fly just because it's conservative talk.
I listen to talk radio daily, am politically right leaning, yet I have NO desire to listen to Imus in the AM or Hannity in the afternoon when I have quality local and live radio elsewhere. You are right, if they truly want to rebuild the audience of WHJJ then rehiring John DePetro is a no brainer.
 
With no local drive time programming will they even need a separate PD there?I know theoretically Bill George is news director but Hess used to helm HJJ,WSNE,and B101.I even wonder if the eventual goal is to sell the station.It doesn't even make sense to keep it to complement the others in the cluster anymore.WSNE may underperform but at least it gives CC a female targeted station and they take what they can get listenerwise.

Look at the shambles of people's lives. Honestly, have some compassion. He is a snickering fool. I hope he is in food stam lines , needs to be brought down to earth.
 
Dan Yorke is bossom buddies with our corrupt attorney general. Should he be left on the air to make exuses for his corrupt friends?

#1. Who the hell cares who Depetro's friends are??? #2. I don't even know if this is true.
All I can tell you is that he puts on a good radio show. If we are going to sit here and critique Radio "friends"..... I think you are going to find many undesirables among them. Who listens to the Radio and thinks about who the guy is friends with anyway? That's just odd.
 
So Depetro's friends are the Derdarians? They were college buddies. Would you drop your friend when he needs you the most? Let's not get into a station fire debate here but they didn't intentionally kill people. Saying you dont want Depeptro on the radio because he is friends with someone is ridiculous. ;)
 
The Derdarians may have not made Good Business decisions...... But they certainly never wished anyone harm. It was an unfortunate tragedy which was an accident. Depetro had absolutely nothing to do with it anyway. So I have no idea why the connection is being made. It's just Ridiculous.
 
with Arlene leaving, the Depetro opportunity is obvious for HJJ. If Hannity goes in the slot, ownership is saying they have no plans to do anything with the station but sell.

I'm with you Skynet. I like Yorke and think he does some really good work but his ego and attitude need a major check.
Other media people in this market must get tired of Yorke's endless critiquing of their work.
He's also quite unfair and a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to critiquing certain political people. Because of his cozy friendships with certain pols he treats them with kid gloves and won't go after them even though they're among the more corrupt and inept going. Yorke is way too full of himself right now but we all know life is very cyclical and Yorke will stub his radio toe sooner or later. Be many smiles in many different corners when that happens. Dan is good but he's nowhere near the mover and shaker he thinks he is around here nor is he as highly regarded in certain political circles as he thinks he is.

When Yorke protected Patrick Lynch and Ralph Mollis , because Arlene Violet was opposed to them and sold out Rhode Island, I knew he was the wrong guy.
Depetro DID in fact help Carcieri get elected.
We badly need a DEPETRO of somekind in Rhode Island.
Yorke cares as much for R.I. as someone else from New Jersy.
That has made for bad entertainment.
 
Yorke wins by default. He's the only game in town. He's unprepared for competition. Put someone decent against him and he'll crap his pants.
 
whatdidusay, agree a 1000% that Arlene Violet is the inspiration behind Yorke's love affair with Lynch.
Funny thing about Yorke is the 3 pols he's most friendly with are Patrick Lynch (and his brother Bill chair of the Democratic party) Tim Williamson and Steve Laffey.
All three have serious character and integrity issues not just as pols but as people.
It's why I view Yorke as such a hypocrite.
Funny you should mention Mollis because now that the election is over Yorke is suddenly all hot and bothered by Ralph Mollis and his crooked ways. But if you think about it that makes sense because Mollis is not one of the big boys in the Democratic party. That's Yorkes pattern, he go after the Republican governor over every little issue day in and day out but will leave the big boy Democrats alone. He'll go after the Ralph Mollis types, the minor leaguer Democrats, but won't touch the Lynch Bros, Murphy, Montalbano, etc.
It's why we need John DePetro around. He never sucked up to the power-that-be like Yorke does.
 
Yes Radiohead and because Yorke wins by default, we all lose.
Yorke had all the inside mafia info on Mollis and wouldn't use it. He was scared to death.
Depetro would have been informing the public.
Yorke is in a position he can't fill.
Entertainment is created by hard hitting talk.
Yorke is an empty suit too often.
He seems to be all talk radio has locally.
I find Matt Allen and hjjs sub Tony Farr are good but their never on.

I hope hjj brings back depetro somehow..
 
Depetro is more than Welcome by the people in Rhode Island. He gave a spark to talk Radio which it currently lacks. You are absolutely correct about Yorke. He is a tough guy behind the Mic, but he seems to lack guts when it comes to facing people in the real World. I don't want to seem like I'm knocking the guy. He isn't all bad. But he also has a transparent personality which is easy to see thru. He's not 100 percent Genuine............ and that is the part whcih I don't like.
 
now that yorke's so called announcement has been comfirmed, wouldn't a healthy competition between 2 stations be something you would strive for? Why be excited over no competition when working to beat another station and winning is a great accomplishment? And maybe now we dont have to listen to him talk about WHJJ all the time. I never heard anyone talk about their competition so much without knowing he's helping to promote it?
