You can relax Red Sox Nation--CT Contingent

Red sox on GCH you got to F*** kidding me. greenwich is way yankees territory. I don't know one sox fan that exists. Does it mean that sox might be carried on 98.5 previously WBON as well?

Just FYI, The Sox are also carried by 1490 WGCH Greenwich, 1220 WQUN Hamden, 1350 WINY Putnam and WILI 1400 Willimantic.

tells you how much I care about WGCH!
how do they find the advertising revenue to carry the SOX?

SOX have been on 1490 since 2005. And 1220 since 2004.

Who else in Connecticut will carry the 26-time World Champions besides WPOP-AM 1410 of Hartford?

No, it's called the EVIL EMPIRE! Go SOX! :D

Sorry, but the SOX are the EVIL EMPIRE. They make all their fans subscribe to cable or satellite to watch most of their games (aside from the few games on the FOX Network).

The Yankees will continue to have mostly Friday Nights games on MY Network TV in NYC and New Haven. (That's in addtion to the few games on the FOX Network).

It all depends on the way that the TV contracts are negotiated. The Red Sox used to have a deal that included many games on Fox 25 Boston. However, that contract expired and they apparently couldn't come to terms with any of the local broadcasters. Personally, I would love to see them get together with TV 38 again - but that would mean making a deal with CBS (not an easy thing).

Besides, it's not like they're being so horrible to the fans. A look at the 2007 schedule reveals a lot of games on the Fox network. And, most of New England has very high cable penetration and NESN is usually carried in the basic + package. I know that I never paid extra for it. Some like that better than pre-empting prime time network programming anyway.

Lots of teams have NO local broadcast coverage - so the Boston situation is not unique.
