KYA as we knew it was a 60 s ICON , now its simply a Stream , with a guy claiming to be Chris Edwards, even uses The Real Chris Edwards jingle, which said "Chris Edwards is here to play more music" I remember the jingle, I remember them all! I dont remember this guys voice claiming to be someone hes not!! To prove my case please go to www.reelradio.com go to the "John Rook Collection" you will find Chris Edwards, Tom Campbell. KYA August 1969, Wow you can tell the difference without a doubt! This is a clear cut case of mis representing your self Verne, Strange how after listening over and over to the 1969 show its so clear you are not Chris Edwards!! I would hope the Bay Area Radio Digest will pick up on this, and let listeners know we have a Imposter on KYA!!!! Think about this if "The Real Chris Edwards" was back on the air now , what would we have , easy answer a real one and a phony! Kenny in Concord, whats next ,a Gene Nelson impersonator?

Didn't we have about a hundred posts about this Chris Edwards controversy a couple of months ago? It was established that:

1. The website sounds good, but...
2. The guy is NOT the original Chris Edwards from KYA. BossRadioDJ supplied information about who the fake Edwards really was. As I remember, Ben Fong Torres interviewed the real Edwards for his Chronicle column, and it was established that he (the real guy) was not involved with the website in any way, and has had a successful radio career off-mike (management or sales) for the last few decades.

As far as I know, nothing can prevent the fake Edwards from using that name, even if the real Edwards makes a big stink about it, and he seems like too relaxed and good natured a guy to bother. If you remember the heydey of Top 40 radio, stealing DJ names was not uncommon. In the late 60s, you could travel from market to market and hear "_____W. Morgans," in most of them. There's a DJ in LA named "Mr. Rock and Roll" who actually copyrighted his name, but everybody else is out of luck. So let's move on.

Let's get it correct my cousin Chris White aka Chris Edwardes White works for me and is the CEO for my internet stations ONLY. I am using him as a voice talent on my 4 FM's as well. The info that was originally put on the KYA website was done by our webmaster after researching the bay area radio. Some pictures of one of the many guys using the name "Chris Edwards" were put on incorrectly as well as verbage explaining "award winning Etc" I have ordered all those incorrect pictures ave verbages be taken off ASAP. The pictures now on the sight are my cousin Chris White using his Radio name Chris Edwards. You must note however that there are several other on air personallitys using the same name. My Corporation respects the talents of Chris White and while he is recreating KYA as my Corporation copywrited KYA and KYARADIO and KYA1260 in 1999 then puchased the jingle packages our only intent is to bring back the original KYA on our website station. While highlighting on our front page several past KYA Dj's the website is not for "Chris Edwards" or any other Dj that worked there. It was created simply to preserve the great radio station KYA. I have asked Chris White to change his air name to make sure that it is clarified either to his legal name Chris White or Chris Edwards White.

Gee, Verne, you know what's strange? Both you and your "cousin" make the same spelling ("copywrited," "Etc," "personallitys") and punctuation errors (do you know how to use a comma?) in your messages.

I have a dozen or so emails from you, your "cousin" and a few alleged supporters, all of whom write *exactly* the same way. What does that tell us, Verne?

Im only going to say I dont believe a word of that, Verne White I will let some "EXPERTISE" radio guy or gal un ravel this bungled up thread! You say on your KYAradio1.com page "Join Grammy Award Winning DJ Chris Edwards" thats IMPOSSIBLE !!!!! He is not on the radio, So we are both reading from the same page, The only Chris Edwards the Bay Area knows is the "Real One" so unless you worked at KIOI FM 101.3 in 1981, Its all done, you can pretend to be someone your not, rest assure ,youve fooled a few people but, not everyone, by rights "The Real Chris Edwards" should have your stream!! You use his personnal jingles, and at this time i will say your never going to be able to talk as fast as he did, your voice just doesent do it!! Maybe some of you are just jealous because Vern owns some stations and you don't.. but you wish you did.

You obviously haven't been following the saga. Do you think it is acceptable for someone to go around introducing himself as THE Chris Edwards that worked at KYA? Do you think it's okay to post on an industry website that you worked at legendary stations such as KHJ and KYNO -- when you didn't?

If I went around calling myself Doctor Don Rose, that would be one thing. But if I went around saying that I am the top-rated Dr. Don that worked at KFRC, that's a completely different matter. If you think that's acceptable behavior, you need to get an education in morals and ethics.

Verne White is "Chris Edwards." Not his cousin. Not some mysterious other person. The image here is the business card that he hands out to people, including Steve Kushman of the California Historical Radio Society, whom he misrepresented himself to:

As you stated, it would be OK to be one of a number of people using the name Chris Edwards, Verne and his "cousin" alter ego should not be claiming to be THAT Chris Edwards from the glory days of KYA. It seems like Verne is not handling this well, and just digging himself deeper into a hole.

You guys remind me of a broken record stuck in the same groove! This is a radio industry website? You've got to be out of your collective minds if you think that is true! What radio broadcast organization owns it? Isn't it owned by the family of a deceased radio enthusiest and a couple of friends? We all know now that Chris Edwards White is a fraud so move on already! He owns the site and the stations (maybe) and we don't big deal! Who really gives a flying fig? There are a bunch of Dave Diamonds out there too! And XM radio does not know when enough is enough!

Funny how you worry about Dave Diamonds, hes hardly the issue, stay on track! The most important thing to come out of this is , Verne White has to live with himself, as long as he knows people are aware beyond a shadow of a doubt, hes a "Guy From The Central Valley" with no "Bay Area Radio Roots" !!!
