You Don't Wan't To Miss This!

Thursday afternoon promises more riveting talk radio from KT'R's Mac 'n Cheese as he discusses the Farmer's Almanac. If Nurse Jeff and I didn't hear Network Ned promoting it this morning, we wouldn't have believed it either! Our hunch is Ed Phillips will be making a guest appearance; Aunt Edna will call in from Sun City; and somehow the Infamous Girl Friend will get a mention or two. The dog days of summer have produced yet another mongrel from Arizona's Number One Two News & Talk station. YIKES!

"Mac? I'm a widow, and my toaster broke in June, what does the almanac say? Oh, and we had a slight drizzle here this morning, is it still monsoon? And, my kids are grown up, why do I pay taxes for the schools. Bring back Pat McMahon, he is such a nice boy. Oh well, its 3:30, time to go to Furr's Cafeteria!"

Fascinating radio

Here we go!

Wittier discourse on this board than on either of the two talkers!

Don't hold your breath waiting for a response, L.C. ;)

There's just something about lame programming and KT'R. Case in point: McBland being a part of their War Room coverage.

z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z z wake up Edna, KT'R is talkin' about the Farmers' Almanac!

Leave it up to the good Dr. to get those juices flowing-- just when we thought this board was getting boring! :)

Any rumors to start? Whose swapping what for what? ;D

What has happened to TALK RADIO???? You turn on 550 in the morning and BJ hates everything, everyone and has a derogatory name for people places and papers. He gets 5 minutes of my morning. Turn on 92.3 you get repeat news with self promotion that they are so great, they get 5 minutes of my time. Turn over to 960 and Laura is talking conservative, conservative, conservative. She gets 6 minutes. Turn to NPR and the mellow consistant voice almost puts me back to sleep, have to turn in 2 minutes. So I put a book on CD in.

The rest of the day......

550 is ok till JD gets on, I don't want to listen to an ex politician doing talk. Listened to Blow Out The Phones for the first time last week "not the same as Bob Mohan".

620 the hosts want to talk and preach at you and make you think they are banking big money and that they live in mansions. We all know for a fact, well, who do they think they are fooling? Thats just talk. Do they not have enough callers to make the show entertaining. If they were good entertainers they would not be in Phoenix on 620. Heck Jay Leno can only do a 7 minute dialogue and that 7 minutes isn't always good. I thought talk radio was to be entertaining? The callers entertain me, not the host, their not good enough.

960 just a bunch of syndication to fill the time to try and sell some spots.

I tried to give blow out the phones a listen, its awful. Except for Barry's show, there is nothing I listen to KFYI on, Bruce is ignorant and loud, Rush and Hannity are boring, Savage is just so phoney, and Coast to Coast is just ignorant conspiracy freaks.

I listen to a lot more sports radio now, and Hewitt and Boortz and Dennis Miller in the afternoon, but there ain't much to listen to these days.

I have to agree with you, Intheday, about JD. I have no desire to listen to an ex-politician shill for his party. I don't care who it is or which party they represent, it just isn't compelling talk radio. It's more like paid political advertising with commercials inserted between rants.

I'm sure JD is a great guy and was a good politician, but he needs to stick to politics and leave talk radio to veteran talkers. I see his show more as a stepping stone to run for Guv.

Thank god for podcasts. During the week I sample

Dr Drew
Matt and Ramona
Cooper Lawerence
Shredd and Ragan
Dave Dameshek
Tom Leykis
Daily Blender
Big O and Dukes

I will tune into KTAR to see what they are talking about but that dosen't last too long.

KOHS

You are right. J D would like to run for Governor, He probably will. His chances of winning
less than slim to none. Arizona is generally conservative but it is not all J.T. Ready. J.D.H. attended a ralley at which Ready spoke. Ready pointed out J.D.H. as a great statesman. With the endorsement of the J.T. Readys of this state the ninth floor is way out of reach for J.D.H.

960-Dennis Miller ROCKS- he could whip a lot of butts in this valley (funny, smart, a wide variety of amazing guests) if I wasn't the only one listening to him. I like Praeger sometimes too. Totally agree with you about BOTF-it's turned into a pep ralley for Sherrif Joe and J.D. If I ever have to listen to J.D. for any length of time-I make sure all sharp objects that may double in function as an end to my pain are removed. I personally like a host who is going to be as entertaining as the callers. Right-Jay Leno isn't always funny during those seven minutes, but Johnny Carson consistently scored 7/7. Bet his ratings were better too.

Sorry, Legend. I made the post about me being the only one who listens to Dennis Miller before I read yours.

You are kinder than I, KOHS, because I'm not even sure he's a great guy. He positively foams at the mouth when someone disagrees with him.

Jay,

I agree that J.D., thankfully, hasn't a prayer of being elected governor. But this Ready character has been showing up at a lot of events and endorsing people who don't espouse his philosophy, trying to identify himself with more traditional politics and appear less of a fringe nuttie.

Perhaps Stan Barnes will hire him as a consultant for his lobbying firm. ;)

Of course, the words oil and water come to mind when I think of Barnes and Hayworth being in the same room. ;D

I agree Legend, Barry Young is the only local entertaining host on any station, Hewitt I will listen to if I am driving. On Sunday nights I found a show on KFNX that has troops from the battlefield on, and I have found it interesting to hear their stories without media bias and military rah rah.

I long for the old days of talk radio!

Barry is a living (barely) example of how not to do talk radio. I remember the days when Leykis did talk and he would kick Barry's aged posterior up and down the aisle. Oh perhaps I am too harsh; he's very good for comic relief.

Talk radio - all radio - died when Father Clinton signed the Telecom Act of 1996. How much longer will the corpse of terrestrial radio keep on breathing?

Leykis still does (bad) talk and he never kicked Barry's posterior anywhere. You may be smokin' now what you were smokin' then. If Clinton's your Father-that explains it.

The repulsive combover boy Leykis is still on, still sounding like a perverted old uncle, still voicing, like Jabba the Hutt, his pathetic life.

I want someone else to pick him up for Phoenix, just for him to be dropped again, is it #4 or #5? :D
