You know what aggrivates me?

When certain stations overmodulate so much that they bleed onto SEVEN frequencies. This morning, here in Asheville, I was scanning the AM dial in an attempt to find something decent to listen to. A certain station, which will remain nameless for now, could be heard CLEARLY on seven frequencies, all the way down to it's second-adjacent, and all the way up to it's fourth-adjacent. I'm thinking that it couldn't be heard any further down the dial only because there's another station in the market on it's third-adjacent. Incidentally, this third-adjacent station's signal fades heavily on the side of town the offending station broadcasts from. I always wondered why...now I know.

As mad as I get about pirates and such, I get even more angry when allegedly responsible broadcasters allow their signals to bleed so badly. It's just irresponsible.

There's my rant...thanks for listening.

Hands down, one of the best posts ever on Radio Info. Maybe it should be stickied, not just here but on other boards as well.

Glad you're discreet..certainly wouldn't want to mention Big WISE by name or anything.... Don't know if that's who you're talking about, but they bleed all over going through downtown Asheville.

Actually, I'm talking about one of the other two stations in town with a signal in the 1300 range. You are close though.

I think WISE is a whole lot like the old saying..."if a tree falls in the forest, and nobody's there to hear it, does it still overmodulate?". Sorry, bad humor.
