You know you're in Tucson when....

1. The sign says "40" but everybody's doing "20".
2. Your blood pressure goes up 30 points when you see "Tucson" spelled "Tuscon".
3. Hope springs eternal in your breast when you buy season tickets to the UofA Wildcat football games.
4. You can remember when the Papa Burger at Lucky Wishbone was 35 cents.

1. Going to the beach means a trip to Breakers.
2. You can name 4 generations of the Click family.

....and speaking of car dealers in the Old Pueblo.....

I noticed in today's STAR that Billie Beaudry died at the age of 90. Who is Billie Beaudry you ask? Widow of old S.M. Beaudry who founded Beaudry Motor Company (941 N. Stone) - one of the heaviest radio advertisers of Tuscon Tucson radio in the 50's and 60's.

Their jingle is burnt into my mind. ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

...You know you're in Tucson when the "personalities" that are "on" Tucson radio are heard in ten other markets-mostly on some awful Clear Channel stations.

You know you're in Tucson when you see an Nico's Taco shops all over the place and you are driving and listening to a community radio station.

I've got a great slogan for them too..."We will bury you with Great Oldies"

Shouldn't that be "...with Familiar Favorites"? Since that is their 'catch phrase'.
(Just kidding--KGVY is the best music station in Baja Arizona. Except maybe for 'all Michael Jackson, all the time' KWFM! ;))

...you finally purchase a vehicle with satellite radio - and spend time in it in your driveway, listening to 80+ channels of audio, and realize just how sucky the Tucson radio landscape really is! :p

You know you're in Tucson when you spend more time with your foot on the brake pedal than the accelerator.
You know you're in Tucson when you spend more time at red lights than you do moving.

Sirius XM may offer a lot of channels but why do they all technically speaking sound horrid? It's like listening to a low bit online stream with a bunch of digital swish!! Sound is not far from AM HD!!

Dunno...seems to sound reasonably well in my ride, but what do I know. ???

I*do* know that we *used* to listen to these selections in beautiful lo-fi mono - whether AM or FM, so it might just be a matter of perspective - when these songs were new back in the '60's and '70's. (yes, a few of us had to listen to this via the end of the air chain, not at the beginning of it)

I've also never had the privilege curse of listening to any AM HD radio at this point, so the reference is (temporarily) lost on me.

Any in the Phx market?

The very short reception I've gotten from KOY tells me that it is almost an FM analog signal but I haven't been able to listen to it long enough yet. Their signal doesn't come in and stay locked in my end of town.
