I remember a couple of years ago Miami's (Ft. Lauderdale's) Classic Rocker, BIG 106 (now BIG 105.9) did the pay-for-play weekend for Joe DiMaggio Childrens' Hospital(?).
Some of the stuff you heard was like, well, someone put it well once before regarding JACK-FM: your I-Pod on crack. It was a free-for-all. Any song you can dream up, was played.
Selena followed by Starbuck, followed by liners that stated they'll even play the Backstreet Boys, etc etc., music that was 'in' at the time.
Though, since I can't find legit Starbuck tracks, it WAS nice to hear the original 'Moonlight Feels Right' and not hijacked 'underwear' demos that even Bruce Blackman stated on numerous sites selling that CD, that the tracks were ripoffs and not the band.
Wild how Memory Lane rears his or her ugly head.
***In all seriousness, pay-for-play is a wonderful fundraiser for radio stations to do. I'd love to see MTV get with it, pull every music video they have on file, and do the same thing!
