If you could format any type of station on the dial here, what would it be?

Active Rock. I'd put in some more Stone Sour, Slipknot, Sevendust, System of A Down, Tool, and so on. Maybe some Alice in Chains, Some killer 80's Rock for the recurrents. And of course it would have to have some killer jocks with attitude. I'd go heavier with the music if I thought it could get ratings..like maybe some Slayer. ;D  8)

Country! I love them, but KIIM needs some competition. There's room for the market to support two country stations...

I'd do everything KIIM isn't - I'd be fresh and new. Maybe put on a morning show that doesn't bore you back to sleep (no offense Shannon and Brett) The guys at Citadel could use a good ole fashion turf war again... I've even got a name: Cibatta Country - We're on a roll!

What do ya think?

??? Then esplain to me Lucy why such powerhouse radio companies like Clear Channel and Journal are still trying to give away truck loads of bumper stickers from their failed country formats.............? ::)

Because, Ricky, they didn't do it correctly. You can't bring a mostly voicetracked/syndicated station into the market and expect it to overtake KIIM's heritage...not to mention the fact that they excell at live and local.

Tim and Willy were never going to crack KIIM with a generic morning show. You have to be just as aggressive as they are on the streets and you have to be just as live/local as they are on the air.

To my knowledge, nobody has come at KIIM correctly... The first group that does will see different results.

How about a format that sounds a little more "energetic"???

This town moves at a snail's pace - the traffic, Rio Nuevo, this market's radio board, etc.

I would at least like to hear some music a little more upbeat.

KSZR needs to move to lite-dance/hip-hop station to kill KOHT where it can't be picked up. Neither of the two stations have great signals, but KSZR the better by far.

KWMT needs to switch to active rock.

KZPT needs to have more variety.

I always believed if you wanted to beat KIIM was NOT playing 16 songs in a row, or play more classic country, but to sound EXACTLY like KIIM and confuse the listener..... ???

I'm sure that I'm the only one on the face of the earth who would like to bring back the "easy listening", no vocals, muzak station... ;D

Actually I believe I said that I would be fresh and new - more music and a fresh approach to the format. There's not a station anywhere that's both successful and playing classic country. The majority of the audience doesn't care about Merle when there's a new Tim McGraw to be spun...
