You Tube ads getting worse?

A few months back I bought a new Amazon Fire TV stick 4K and use it a lot to watch You Tube and I like it better now than on my older Roku, except for one thing. It seems like commercial interruptions are worse. I know that most videos will have an ad at the beginning, but now it as gone to ads interrupting the videos multiple times, sometimes with two at a time. Has anyone else noticed this happening with other streaming devices, or is something like Amazon running additional ads on Fire TV devices a part of the problem? Thanks!

Youtube has been running midroll ads during videos on desktop and Android for ages now.

It is my understanding that Youtube creators get some degree of control of how many ads are shown with their videos.

Yes, you are right. And yes, there are a lot more, and yes it is annoying. I have no problem with Ads - many people who post on this sites' salaries come from advertising (including my own). However, streaming media services like youtube do an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE job of integrating those ads.

It's to the point where they have become so irritating and you either skip them, refresh, or you get a sketchy browser plugin that blocks them. What good is the ad when the delivery method is terrible?

And BTW, IHeartRadio has jammed more adverts into their podcasts - i.e. Stuff You Should Know. They now run two to three preroll ads at the top, then jam pack the middle with more ads (all with varying levels of audio which is also maddening). Again, the delivery method is so awful it ruins the content itself.

I could go on... but sufice it to say, what good is the advertising if the advertising delivery method is horrible? No one is going to buy your product if you slam people with clunky annoying ad integration.

I agree that the integration of ads during videos is the most irritating part. There are a lot of times that they will pop up in the middle of someone talking. If it was at natural breaks it wouldn't be as bad. Along with that sometimes there will be 2 or 3 breaks on even short videos. I'm not against ads but the timing is bad on a lot of them.

Exactly. We put up with TV ads, and at one time radio ads (those modern day 15 minute stop sets are doing more damage to listenership, then streaming media music services, etc.) because there is a rhythm to them. There is no rhythm to streaming media advertising. And when they DO start to find a homeostasis with advertising, they get greedy and ram even more adverts down your throat. It ruins the whole experience. And now that it has become outrageously annoying, people drop it all together or find ways to defeat it: Like the AdBlock plug in. I wouldn't watch Youtube without it.
