Your first Record (and you need to ask why the Jack format has become popular)

Take another look at the thread below – Your first Record (This could be interesting) – and it very quickly shows why “Jack” has become the format craze across the US and Canada. A post that has clearly captured the eclectic tastes we all have in music. It is no wonder that the “Jack” concept has been launched and other stations across the country are finally opening up their play lists.

I agree, and hope to see it take hold in Providence. Our best two candidates are WSNE, which already has Jack-type weekends, and WSKO-FM, which has an impending format change.

Yes but look at all the varied choices. Most are good candidates for a Jack format but I'm also willing to bet we have participants here in all age demos. Primarily male but there are some females posting. Jack is unproven as much as I personally like all-over-the-road formats. If the format is successful then I also have to wonder about all the stations who preached how on-target their music research has been for years. Now it's time to apologize for sucking all that time and actually giving the listeners diversity.

Time will tell. The jury is out.

How about a "Jack"-type format with live personalities??

With the right personalities, it would be very compeling radio and the most entertaining station you ever did hear!
