What was your first record,8-track,cassette, whetever. What song did you have to have and was your first to own.
Being born 1/71.My first record was a 45. George Harrison's "Crackerbox Palace".
I had to have that song.

For me, it was "Poolside" from Nu Shooz, on cassette in 1986. Remember their Billboard Top 5 smash "I Can't Wait"? (They also hit #1 on Billboard's Dance Chart and #6 on their Hot 100 Chart with "Point Of No Return".)

My brother still has that cassette somewhere. It sounds like crap now. I helped him out and found it on CD a couple of years ago. :)

Speaking of Providence radio and the 1980s, does anybody have airchecks from the old "RI 104" (today's WEEI-FM 103.7)? I used to get a weak signal of that here in New Britain, CT and it sounded pretty good. :)

I just went out the other day and bought that cd for that one cut, nothing else special on that album. The copy at the station disappeared.........I wonder where it got to.
My First "records" were hand me downs from my folks, my First album was Fun, Fun,Fun from the Beach Boys. First 45 was "Hot Rod Lincoln" Commander Cody version.

The first cassette I ever bought was Madonna's "Like a Virgin"
The first cassette single I bought- Martika's "More Than You Know"

My first record ever was in 1978 when my older Brother bought me a Stereo for Christmas and included a copy of The Beatles "White Album". The first record I ever remember buying on my own was the 45 of Billy Joel's "My Life".

My first record was "Sesame Disco". (Yes, a Disco Album by Sesame St.)

My first record that I bought was "I love a rainy night" by Eddie Rabbit.

I don't remember my first Cassette.

My first CD, (and im not ashamed to admit this) was Paula Abdul's forever your girl.

1st record; Thriller MJ
1st Cassette; Either Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet (actually the last cd I bought as well, purchased yesterday, a good purchase indeed) or the Top Gun Soundtrack.

I'm a little too young to have purchased any records of my own, but when I was 4 or 5 I remember listening to my dad's albums. Cream's "Wheels of Fire" and Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" were my two favorites.

My first tape was Michael Jackson's "Bad."

My first CD was "Fear" by Toad the Wet Sprocket.

First record ever -- I can remember taking some of my Christmas money in '69 and hounding Mom & Dad to take me out so I could buy "In the Year 2525" by Zager & Evans. Still have the RCA 45 in my collection.

Has anyone noticed we are all in a straight line on these posts??/
My best to all.
Chatty.

At the age of 7 (in December, 1967), I bought The Monkees' "Daydream Believer" b/w "Goin' Down" (excellent jazzy tune). Using my allowance ($1.00), the record cost me 79 cents. And I was able to use the remaining 21 cents to get a piece of pizza (at "Zack's Pizza", Randolph, MA...it's still in business!). I DID have a few extra pennies in the pocket to get a 5 cent Coke. That same pizza and a Coke today costs $2.75. "I guess were no longer in 1967, Toto."

Patty,
You mean WAS in a straight line until YOU came along!!
Fallriveractive.

Showing my young age, my first cassette tape was Michael Jackson's "Thriller." My first CD was MC Hammer's "Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em." To follow this theme, my first download - on the original Napster - was Semisonic's "Closing Time."

ist lp - edgar winter group "they only come out at night"
1st 8-track - Dobbie Bros - Livin on the Fault Line
1st k-set - 38 special - the one with Hold on Loosly on it
1st 45 - stories "louie louie"
1st cd - pink floyd Dark Side of the Moon.

And this from a kid raised in the urban inner city!

Patti:

The reason for that is people are repsonding to the first post. It wouldn't make sense to answer you...when I am answering him. You will notice I have answered the first poster as well as have answered you. Technically this is proper Message Board etiquette.<P ID="signature">______________

First cassette: Endless Summer, The Beach Boys (was given to me)
First Album: Steppin Out, Joe Jackson (I won at a radio station remote in 1981... I think that was the year...)
First 45: 99 Red Balloons, Nena (I bought because my cousin and I argued over one of the last verses in the song..."If I could prove the world was here...", he thought was "If I could prove the WAR was here...")
First CD: Adrenalize, Def Leppard (I think...)
First Download...can't remember, didn't place any importance on it!

Like therapy I can heave a heavy sigh at finally getting this out in the open.

1st Album given as a gift by my mother: Village People / Live & Sleezy
(Hey, what did she know? Thankfully I did. Never opened X-mas gift.)

1st Album given as gift by my father: J. Cash / Live at San Quentin
(Getting better by the minute. Still have the vinyl as well as CD.)

1st Album by my own hand: KISS / Love Gun
(One of my favorite covers of all time. Plus my neighbors daughter had it. Also one of my favorites of all time.)

The timeline is sort of weird, but that's it. Whew! Much like most of us the neighbors daughter isn't in the picture but the vinyl is still around.
...except the Village People, I think I used it as a frisbee.
