I'm sure this issue has been discussed on this board many times, but...

I'm in a group interested in starting a Part 15 AM community station. The head of our group says that the Part 15 regs say we can't transmit further than 200 feet.

The many posts I've read here plus websites devoted to Part 15 broacasting seem to indicate otherwise.

If anyone can offer some clarity to this, we would be very appreciative.

Under 15.209 that is true but under 15.219 using a good qualtiy transmitter over a mile range is possible and legal. Our transmitter was certified under 15.219 (the 100 milliwatt 3 meter antenna rule)

Part15 FM max rage is about 100ft to 200ft Part15 AM is about 1/2 mile or so. You were told about the max range for part15 FM.<P ID="signature">______________

There is nothing in the part 15 rules that refer to maximum range.

If your leader believes this, then why is your group considering part 15 broadcasting that would give a 200 foot range?
