Your Old School and R&B station...LOL

Jammin 94.1 turns into 94-1 KTFM "Your Old School and R&B station" Ugh? ???

Peeps, I think it's time to say good bye to the good old days of KTFM. Apparently, Robin and the BMP folks think an R&B station will work in S.A. With a city with over 50% hispanic, BMP Radio decides to go R&B.....that's too funny. Just last week Robin told All Access the station was "evolving to Rhythmic AC". What a crock of sh*t. Anyways, Mary J. Blige cancelled her show here in S.A. because ticket sells were in the toilet. Ever wonder why Mariah Carey and every other R&B artist avoid coming to S.A? A month ago or so DJ Tiesto had more people at his concert than the Disco show Jammin 94.1 sponsored. Anyways, unless this is a smoke screen by BMP, this will be the quickest format flip in S.A. Clear Channel tried the R&B format on AM and FM at the same time and it still didnt work. HELLOOOOO BMP!!!!

I have to admit that I do like the new voice over guy.

I think I see a AFR comming to 94.1 or a simalcast of another station. :-\

IMO, the station still sounds the same. No new adds. And the only time I hear it saying "R&B" is at the top of the hour. More confusion?

BMP has similar, if not identicle, formats in the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo. Do they program them centrally? That's certainly a way to save $$ on the expense side.

I listened to KTFM for most of the day yesterday. That playlist is a mess: uptempo, downtempo, 1975 disco tunes followed by hip-hop from 1992. Who's going to listen to a playlist that wide? I think their cumes will suffer from the breadth of music.

It reminds me of Jack with hip-hop in place of the Classic Rock, but as other posters in this thread have pointed out, it's not packaged that way.

They actually sound like KTFM did, when I lived there in the late 90's, without the new music. The playlist is rather broad. I really didn't think they sounded that bad though. I was home on Thursday and Friday last week and normally I listen to KISS mostly when I am there. However, I found myself listening to KTFM more this time. There's really no need to make any major adjustments. The ratings are pretty decent. Could they be better? Sure, but they aren't terrible.

I completely disagree. The station doesnt sound like the old KTFM. The station is all over the road. The rating will suffer because of that.

Why do people still praise the old KTFM? If it was so great and all it would still be around now wouldnt it? this is a completely new KTFM and people just need to get over the past and look towards the future.

P.S. They ARE all over the road.
