Your Smooth Jazz station essentials?

Hello, everyone - I wanted to update the progress of WBWH's switch to the SJ format: We are currently in the process of building our Smooth Jazz library and also installing a new scheduling system (MusicGen). I have gotten a tremendous response from SJ artists and their labels on help with building the library. I am optimistic that we can air the new format within 1-2 weeks from now. There is still a lot of work to do including possibly streaming online as well. The base playlist that I first listed on here is still going to be how our Smooth Jazz station will sound. We will also make it a point to get artists on our station that normally don't get much if any airplay on commercial stations (examples that have already been on my show include: (J. White, Michael J Thomas and John Hopkins Jr.). If anyone has any suggestions or questions, please e-mail me and I will be glad to get back with you. UPDATE: The tentative date for the station's launch is Oct. 1st and this is also the date we should be streaming live at our website: BlufftonConnection.com

Below is a playlist from my most recent edition of my show "The Chlllout Sessions," this is similar to what a playlist will look like on WBWH. Do you think this is good SJ station playlist? I know it doesn't look anything like BA or any other commercial station (which is what we are going for). Or does it need more of those typical vocals from artists like Anita Baker and others like her that BA uses? Thanks for your imput.

Do Not-and I mean Do Not do anything remotely copying BA. They are living in the past. I think your mix is interesting. Not crazy about a few of the artists but overall you added artists that would never get played on a BA station. Diversity is the key=Stay the course!!

Looks like you are off to a good start toward building a classic NAC station.

What's BA?

Broadcast Architecture, the owner/operator of The Smooth Jazz Network. There is plenty of background on BA on this board, none of which is particularly favorable. Just pop it in the search field.

BA haas a very bad rep for helping to destroy Smooth Jazz. Not sure it is all fair, but they sure did make it boring.

I like the playlist Donald. Lots of great music there. Like the others have said, just keep doing what you are doing. I will have to stream you later when I get caught up on some of my online things here. :)
