If you are a fan of/listener to these formats, which of these do you find yourself gravitating to and why?
- B101.1 vs. 106.1 The Breeze
106.1 all the way! I like both but that is my preference. Its softer which is why I prefer it, and its music library matches what I view as softer rock. While I don't mind B101, they are to me very hot. Not unlike a lot of mainstream AC's out there.
- WDAS-FM vs. Classix 107.9
When I do listen to this format its WDAS all the way. TO me t they seem to be slower leaning R&B and more relaxing.
WTDY (as I like the older throbacks), but the processing on the analog lately is seriously making me wanna go to WIOQ more.
Ben-Fm, but only in mornings because that is when there's an actual DJ on. I'm not a fan at all of WOGL's imaging and jingles. That being said I do like Glen in mornings there too.
WRFF. While I like WXPN sometimes, it can be a bit too eclectic.
WHYY if I want a more varied view of things, and WPHT if I want a more local feel with humor.
I prefer mornings most of all because from what I've seen for most stations in our area, this seems to have the most personality driven with listener interaction.
One thing which I like about XPN mornings is how they really get into the music and would take that over RFF although I liked Johnny in mornings when he was there.
WDAS for me mid mornings with Patty Jackson, or the quiet storm.
WIOQ mornings I like Elvis (and find Coop by himself on TDY just something is missing there.)
I don't like radio that is automated or voice tracked. If there's not a live DJ on of some kind then I'm out. (and preferably someone that isn't just reading liner cards and saying the code word to win). I want something more than that. I like both Valerie Knight in mornings and Jenn and Bill too. but I'd lean more tward 106.1 as its AC is softer than that of B101. I liked Sunny 104.5 at first too when it was around. Glen Holis Sunny Love songs.
Live and local.
It takes more time for me to turn on a radio and tune to a desired frequency (yes I use physical radios still.) also record airchecks. anyway, it takes more time to do that than to say Hey A lady, play this playlist or station on Amazon Music Unlimited HD. and by listening to the OTA signal, I get the feel of the local with the djs, the processing, and the local commercials, rather than the A lady putting in PSA's.
My point to all of that is if I'm going to go thru that to tune the radio in, I want something more than songs. or more than DJs who literally stop to announce some code word or intro a break with just a contest or something like that.
Long answer but well. there you have it!
