Your Thoughts On 94.1 KTFM Flip

From the looks of it a A/C station with a rhythmic lean. Seems like they might be going after KXXM.

But KXXM isn't anywhere near AC...how does that add up?

Not directly but seems as if they will be playing some of the same music.

Its like Mix cause there playing the currents in the Hip/Hop Pop then Magic for the lil retro/rock, they still have in their play book flashback old school rap, Havent heard any freestyle nor dance yet but where still in hour 1, Even if as is It will do pretty good, A bigger variety and 1 of the drops said, "no more disco" so thats out, before the flip the mix shows where getting good from the fridays and saturdays now I'm hopeing there going to even get better with a bigger book playlist..

Wow...yea, i was just in the car so i can get near a radio and heard...

ROB BASE - IT TAKES TWO
SHAKIRA - HIPS DONT LIE
CHRIS BROWN - WITH YOU
MAROON 5 - THIS LOVE

Sounds ALL OVER THE ROAD to me...

Can that station ever decide on what to do?

From Allaccess:

The New 94-1 KTFM Debuts Rhythmic Hot AC Format
As of NOON (CT), BORDER MEDIA Jammin Oldies KTFM/SAN ANTONIO began calling itself THE NEW 94-1, KTFM, kicking off its new, more '90s and current decade-driven musical presentation under BORDER MEDIA Dir./English Programming MARK LANDIS, who is positioning the station as Rhythmic Hot AC. CHRIS CORLEY is the station voice.

[EDIT]

JOCKLESS till tomorrow? WOW! Who do you guys think they got????

Congrats on them keeping all this hush hush. I tried calling my people and digging for info. Even called a few ex employees and they knew or at least told me nothing.

Just read on that "huge radio website" that its a RHYTHMIC HOT AC targeting the 25-39 year old females. Go to that site and read the full press release :)

Personally, I like the way the station sounds. I would love to hear more dance music than old school Madonna or 2 Unlimited.

Here's the last hour-

Let's Get It Started- Black Eye Peas
Don't Speak- No Doubt
Don't Stop The Music- Rihanna
I Like The Way You Move- Outkast
Vogue- Madonna
The Way I Are- Timberland
Fighter- Christina Aguilera
It Takes Two- Rob Base
Hips Don't Lie- Shakira
With You- Chris Brown
This Love- Maroon 5
Get Ready For This- 2 Unlimited
See You Again- Mylie Cyrus
Beautiful Girls- Sean Kingston
Crazy In Love- Beyonce
Cup Of Life- Ricky Martin
Holla Back Girl- Gwen Stefani

Wow, this isn't my cup of tea at all. Guess I'll be dropping 94.1 from the presets in the car radio. Now I'll be have a button to devote to both Bob FM and Jack FM. ;)

Seems like a hodge-podge of genres, kind of like a Rythmic Pop Jack. It's more smoke and mirrors from the Committee at the old radio ranch on Eisenhaer. You can't change your brand that much in such a short period of time and be successful.

From- San Antonio Express News

He calls the new format "rhythmic hot adult contemporary," as it plays hits of today from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Destiny's Child and No Doubt, and has more of a dance feel.

Some of you peeps don't like it but even if 94.1 flip to Top 40 or Rock, you people would still be complaining. Anyhow, the music on 94.1 is very upbeat and it sounds good. I just hope BMP spends money on billboards and TV spots like it does with Jack.

Posted by: gradio-Too bad I don't live there anymore and they probably don't stream.
Last I heard is that BMP is working on getting web sites for all there stations. Although, this was a year ago.

I think KTFM should put Ricky Ware and Henretta in the Morning :D

I heard KTFM playing Depeche Mode in the 4:00 hour today. The new playlist must be a little broader and goes back farther than I had figured based on the tracks mentioned earlier in the thread.

I have really enjoyed the freestyle/old school format of KTFM. It was probably one of the best formats/stations I've ever heard! Now I am listening to crap like Britney Spears, Beyonce, Maroon 5? WTF!? I am SO disappointed and saddened that they have gone "mainstream" or whatever this sh*t is. There are officially no good stations in San Antonio. Blah.

I doubt KTFM will be able to mix up Mix, give any beatings to The Beat, or short out Power. They tried in the past and ended up getting canned for a crappy rock station. KTFM sounded fine with adding more 90s and 80s music and getting rid of the disco crap. I kinda enjoyed the old school hip hop that wasn't the same 2Pac and Biggie songs.

Maroon 5??? Sounds like they are trying to get a hold of Magic's listeners. They should have done what Houston did w/ 59.7 and go Rhythmic CHR w/ a sprinkle of pop, not AC rhythmic. But like ususal, I'm always dissappointed in SA radio, and now pretty much every other place I've been in Texas (except for small towns and Austin).
