Your thoughts on Monday?

http://www.ktownradio.blogspot.com/ Has a picture of the new AM boys at the even NEWER 100.something.

What do you think the first day will be like? Reportedly they have Laura Ingram now (good pick) but most deep inside experts who really don t know one damn thing but make great stuff up..think that Rush will be coming soon?

Wear it out kids...Will Monday be a swing for the fence or will HHH continue to be the E ticket on the Kvle morning talk sled?

When exactly does Pirkle take back over the signal? Wouldn't it be tonight (Saturday night/Sunday morning, August 1st) at midnight?

HHH may hold his own for a few weeks but sooner or later that 8000 watt signal is gonna lose big time to the 100,000 watter.

HHH will hold on for much longer than a few weeks. You can expect to hear people say they listen to Hallorin Hill on WNOX for years to come, even with their radio dial (okay, button) set on 98.7 WOKI. It just takes the general public a long time to get stuff out of their head when it comes to radio/TV changes like this. As time passes, I suspect things will change, but it takes quite a bit of time. And by then Citadel may be out of the game, owned by someone else, or may have moved their talk station to yet another spot.

I was also wondering when the plug gets pulled on Citadel's loop. Tonight at midnight or do they let it run tomorrow as well? I'd think they'd want to do at least a little bit of engineering testing with the new STL. Maybe they have taken it down overnight and already done it, I don't know. Interesting to see what tomorrow brings. A preview loop, Citadel's loop, or just being off the air for the day.

But don't you think the only reason they were listening to WNOX was for Rush? Do you really believe HHH is that big a draw or is it that he is the only one doing local talk in the AM?

If you wanted them to forget Rush...then put John Gibson on at noon on the 100!

Sure, some may have been listening to WNOX for Rush, but only between 12-3. Numbers and call-ins prove people are listening at other times as well. Rush isn't the only thing that makes or breaks a talk station. For instance, in Nashville, the talk station drawing the biggest numbers isn't the one with Rush. Also, I can say I listen to talk, but I never tune in intentionally to Rush.

And yes, HHH and Phil both have a following, but local talk does have a lot to do with how many are tuning in as well.

One has to be able to pick up the signal to listen to HHH. I like the guy. I really do. I cannot listen to him if I cannot pick him up. The 98.7 signal is not all that strong in Sevierville and in seveal places non-existant. Same in parts of G'burg. My travels take me up into Ky a lot and near the Caryville exit 98.7 is all but history. I wish there were a way for HHH to stay on 100,000 watts but it ain't gonna happen anytime soon if ever.

It has to be tonight. 100.3 has been playing songs with a theme of "goodbye" all day today (Saturday). It's been quite entertaining. Some of the songs seem to have a bit of a disappointing tone to them.

HHH is loved by someone...but again, RUSH is a draw and I would say there just might be a few who dial over ONCE a day to hear him? As for the new sig. It is fine in my office but as soon as I get in the car it is not that good. We are talking NORTH EAST Blount County now. Those who love HHH will not fight the sig. problem if offered an alternative that is at least local. Thee FULL books from now what will be be saying about this move??

I'm not having any problem with the reception of 98.7 in Blount County, but many of you are and I've come to the conclusion that different car radios are producing different results. I have an older car with an actual rod antenna, and 98.7 has no problem in most of the populated areas of the metro. My wife's car is newer and has the FM antenna imbedded in the windshield and the reception is far inferior.

Been noticing the goodbye songs..they played (I'm the Girl) from Wolverton Mountain. I bet the True Oldies Channel never dug that up.

My reception report (and before anyone accuses me I neither work, have been offerred a job or even officially applied at either company) most places I've been in Knox Co. on my car radio 98.7 has been fine. It was fine on Boyds Creek between Seymour and Maryville. Past Seymour it gets noisy and distorted and is very distorted in Sevierville, worse in Pigeon Forge. House radios in Sevierville..forget about it.

Ed just welcomed everyone back to WNOX.

FOX News joined in progress.

Format change was excellent with a few minor technical difficulties. I thought it was neat how Citadel signed off with the old fashioned radio sign-off. I also really enjoyed the annoying music throughout he day, including Steam - Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) over and over. The music seemed to get progressively more annoying as the day went on. Feel free to listen to the format change @ http://thedetour.us/player/wnoxformatchange/

It's good to hear WNOX back on the air with actual programming again.

I can't wait to hear the local shows and Boortz on Monday!

Ya know after visiting 98 this last week and then this AM going over to 100 it is just scary how strong they are. You tend to forget but the folks who didn t make the BIG SWITCH are going to find one big MF on their radio that will talk to them in the car, in their office, in the barn, in their bunker, in their panic room, in their basement and especially in the back of their cave.

HHH and the boys best be figuring out something very fast or they are burnt Kerns.

Both stations loud and clear in Wartburg. Could always get both on a table radio at the Oliver Springs WalMart.

Radio reception from my point of view was always good in Wartburg. It is going to take more than good reception in Wartburg for 2 talk radio stations to make it in the Knoxville market. It is for sure going to be difficult when one station has a 92,000 watt advantage over the other even though that station has the better known local talent.
