Your thoughts on Super Bowl XLV and FOX's Coverage?

Short and sweet: I'm VERY happy that Pittsburgh lost Super Bowl XLV tonight. ;D

Now then, how do you rate FOX's coverage of the game? I think they always go overboard with their presentation. CBS and NBC do to some extent, too, but FOX is worse.

FOX must have paid a s------d for the rights to air this. They shoved Glee down our throats all night long and had a cast member from that show sing "America The Beautiful".

Nearly everybody me or my brother spoke with during the game all agreed that Christina Aguilera totally botched the National Anthem and that the halftime show (which I didn't record) with the Black Eyed Peas was just plain awful.

Barring a lock out, Super Bowl XLVI will be in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 5, 2012. It'll be aired by NBC.

At least FOX will be happy when the final viewership numbers come out.

Memo to the NFL:
1991 Super Bowl...National Anthem...Whitney Houston. Replay it each year.

I understand some people get nervous when singing in front of a 100 million people. But it's pretty embarrassing to mess up the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. I've talked with people who've sung the anthems at these things, and they tell me that teleprompters for the anthem are available. In fact, some stadiums will run the lyrics on the tel-screens so everyone in the house can sing along. She's going to be living this down for a long time.

Sounds good, but with a different outcome to the game, OK? This longtime Bills fan still goes into a fetal position when anyone utters the words, "wide right". ;D

The play-by-play coverage was good. (Aikman & Buck). The game itself was good; especially when Pittsburgh started to rally at the end and came close to winning. (Although I personally think Big Ben is a Big Jerk for his off-field antics).

The commercials were too many and trying to be too cute. The Darth Vader commercial for the car company as an example wasn't that amusing to me. Snickers tried to capture the "Betty White" moment using Roseanne Barr, which I felt was a total flop.

The National Anthem of this country needs to be changed. Ever read the words? It's no wonder people forget the lyrics.

I can't comment on the half-time shows because I never watch them.

So much for my comments and thoughts on the Super Bowl.

Hell no. That crackhead does not deserve airtime nor the air we breath.

Even being a crack head, she's got more talent in her left eyebrow than Aguleria does.

It might even let people forget Burlesque. That's two stinkers in six months for her. ;D

The halftime show was a far bigger screwup than the National Anthem. And the game was far better.

I wonder why nobody asked Susan Boyle? After all she had a beautiful singing voice (at least in my opinion).

Personally, I think Van Clyburn should have played the Anthem, as he did before Opening Day of the new Ballpark in Arlington in 1994. That was the most rousing, patriotic rendition I've ever heard (even including Whitney Houston's version). Plus, Clyburn is from Fort Worth. Would have been great to have local talent do the Anthem.

I was told by friends the halftime show was very Tron-like.

If you've seen BEP before, it's pretty much what they always do. They've been doing the "Tron" thing for years.

Because she's British, not American. She'd probably sing the anthem respectfully, but she has no connection to it or our country. That would be like an American singing "God Save The Queen" at a British soccer match (assuming they sing it before sporting events there). Wouldn't work.

Lea Michelle's "America The Beautiful" wasn't that great, but it was better than Christina Aguilera butchering the national anthem. (Strange, since I despise Glee and usually like Christina!) I totally agree that FOX overdoes everything, right down to that annoying robot character they always use. I'm OK with Troy Aikman but I despise Joe Buck (his dad was cool though). I didn't care for the shots of the celebrities and/or dignitaries. (Notice how some of them were Republican? FOX? Hmmmmm!) As for the halftime show? Ugh! Don't get me started. I'm sooooooo happy that I never record halftime when watching this game. Barring a lockout, it should be better next year when NBC carries Super Bowl XLVI from Indianapolis.

P.S. As for foreigners doing one of our anthems, WWE is supposedly going to have Justin Bieber sing "America The Beautiful" before WWE WrestleMania XXVII in Atlanta.

I hope Kane comes out and chokeslams him :p

I thought his cameo in SNL (probably in lieu of traveling to Dallas) was a slam dunk! It helped out an overly long and boring bit.

And 99.7% of America wouldn't have a clue who he (?) is. The goal seems to be to get the biggest name they can get, which seemingly isn't always a good idea.

The pre-game show was awful.

From celebrities on the red carpet with some no-name entertainment show host plugging her book (and really, who cares what John Travolta and Owen Wilson have to say about the game?), to all the insane plugs (Ritz crackers! Pizza Hut!) with the lame show-fake-tie-ins, to Fox all but ignoring the problems with seating in Cowboys Stadium...

The halftime show made me wonder if I'd accidentally started drinking, and I don't drink, at all, ever.

The game? Meh. OK, I guess, except for Joe Buck's tendency to over dramatize EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING.
