Ok so your thoughts on the new i100 in Pensacola? Love it? Dislike it? Something that you were not expecting, etc??

My opinion overall is its a "B". I like the station itself. They love to play Miley and the Kings of Leon (haha). Im not going to attack them any way but in time, I know they will add much more variety than that other station across the panhandle...97-5 WABB. And I thought that 97-5 WABB would have started competing with them, but geez- i guess they lack charisma! Anyways, back to the preliminary topic here: i100- They need a solid morning show. I love how they have Billy Bush on the weekends. I wonder if more people are continuing to make the switch from WABB to the new i100. I am sure that WABB has their loyal fans but enough will be enough...only in time. And speaking of "new", how long will this "new"-ness keep going on?! It seems they are giving out good promotions including the Lady Gaga tour in ATL. That is freaking raw! Plus Lady GaGa even says the station name! Whatelse should we expect in the upcoming New Year? Are we expecting a future Q100 in ATL or 104.1 KRBE in the making? Or is too small of a market? Again, I see good things continue in this radio. Good jub Cumulus. Don't be arrogant now!

Well, love your thoughts and have a blessed Christmas!

I give it a C

The playlist is way too tight
I feel like I am listening to a nationally syndicated station. Their is no sense of localization
No morning show
It seems they are just going through the motions playing the same exact playlist as wabb.

The imaging is great
The jocks sound ok but no personality..

This station needs a morning show bad.

Don't expect WABB to react to their existence. There's no reason to respond (much different than reacting) in any way unless-or-until there is some evidence that WJLQ is emerging as a real competitor. Just good defense. No reason to bring in a nickel back if the other QB doesn't have an arm.

The "new" thing will never go away. It's one of those "magic words." I'm aware of CHRs that have called themselves "new" ten years into it. (If you just tuned in for the first time, it's "new" to you).

FWIW, plugging in syndicated shit like Billy Bush doesn't require any talent--any more than cycling the same 70 songs the consultant (or corporate VP/Programming) tells you to plug into Selector. That all takes 10 minutes. What do you do the rest of the week?

(Yeah, yeah--that was pretty snarky. But I'm serious. If pushing a button and spending the rest of your time sipping coffee and flirting with the receptionist now constitutes a PD job, Pink Floyd was right: we don't need no edyoukayshun)! Has the radio biz been reduced to one guy in Atlanta/Dallas/New York picking one from Column A and one from Column B?

Cumulus is lame. Look for the morning act to be some syndicated crap, too. Real morning shows cost money.

It's all about the music to me, and on that front i100 sounds just fine.

Considering that Cumulus hasn't added morning shows to their Dallas or Nashville 'i' stations yet, I wouldn't worry about them being that concerned with plugging one in for the little ol' hamlets of the Florida/Alabama Gulf Coast. And even if they had, someone would predictably claim 'they suck' or rant about a T-shirt they didn't get... ;D

Rob - "I" just hope they remember to take all them holiday sweepery things off in about January or early February.

RNR, what exactly is a "cumulus"? I have never heard of such a word.

CCENG - you must be ddddeeeeeeeppp in them woods! I guess that means no green and red strobey balls on them poles
on the panhandle for Rob this holiday season. Have ye abandoned the R-I ship while swimming in the tropo-ics? Were ye abducted by C2C-aliens with aluminum foil antennas or maybe a ufoey-thingy flown by castro?

I give it a score of a "23'. For no real reason, other than I haven't heard it, but ass-ume its gotta sound about 95% like Nashville's, which is
listenable.

Mainly, sorry Nate. I know you're trying to get something happening on here. I hope this board is not a sign of radio listenership to come...

Tibbs...I am still here....there just ain't been s**t to discuss on this board that I have any opinion about....speaking of the woods...I am leaving work in about an hour to head there for the weekend, Redman and Crown in hand.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I liked it better when they were stunting early in November. The segment of smooth jazz was music to my old ears.

I don't like it either. We have too many CHR's now unless Z96 doesn't cover mobile.

Is I really any different than Q?
Did they do anything different in the morning?
Has anyone seen a billboard?
I'm so old that I think any "I" station is a country station with an interstate sign for a logo.

I-100? Wow, reminds me of my days at a legendary I-100 in Daytona Beach back in the 80's. I remember crackin the mic and blaring out a 20 second legal ID:

WNFI-Palatka, Daytona Beach, Gainesville, Jacksonville and Orlando. The 100,000 watt hot rockin, flame throwin I-100.

Now that was a radio station on fire......

LOVED I-100 in the 80's in Daytona. My friends all liked DIZ but I wasn't much of a rock kid. In my Mainland High school year book there is a picture of the I-100 van in one of our parades, I think.
