ok..you can work in radio, be a groupie, whatever,,here is my top 5..feel free to add your own (your list may cross over from other boards)..feel free to just name or elaborate why:

1. Jordan Rich- He kicks ass..he worked with me one on one for 5 weeks working on voiceovers..he returns calls/emails within a day..he is a knowledgeable guy that works for the #1 station in Boston.
2. Marc Clark- The first guy that ever got me interested in radio...even though I didn't work for him, he would ask for my tapes and critique them..he still calls my cell even though i was one of HIS groupies back in the day
3. Jackson Blue- for calling me a year ago and saying "your website kicks ass..you sound good--will you do a few shifts at the Rose?"
4. Christine Fox- She kicks butt on air...and she's the first person above me at a station to literally sit down and critique my tape..how awkward..it's not that often i take a chic's advice, but she is the bomb!
5. J.J. Wright-Ok, needless to say I think he has THE best voice in boston radio..i almost fell out of my chair when I took a voiceover class in Boston back in 2000..and the guy that sat next to me said "hello, I'm J.J. Wright"..It taught me that no matter how kick ass you may be in radio, it doesn't mean that you're good at all aspects of radio....this guy is truly a legend!

You don't respect anyone in Providence

> hmm...guess you've never heard of christine fox then.
>
Fox is in Fairhaven. But I agree, she is great. I remember when she first started on WZOU doing weekends in the early 90's, she was clearly a talent then.

1. John Laurenti - One of the hardest workers in Radio.
2. Paul "Miller" Jaxon - Met him years ago, most down to earth radio guy I've ever met.
3. Doug Palmeri - Hard worker, saw the writing on the wall at HJY and grabbed the CC production director job.
4. Ed McMahon - Class Act
5. Erica Kay - Because she started the topic

* Notes - Laurenti now @ WBOS
- Jaxon now @ WMMR Philly

They've all been doing it so long that they have to be doing something right.

1. Phil Hendrie. what he does on his show is absolutely amazing!
2. Glenn Beck.
3. Sean Hannity.
4. Stern (although I think he's gotten old & stale)
5. and yeah...I can't think of anyone else

come on down to my restaurant! I'm Ted Bell

Laurenti for striking out on his own and letting someone else play enabler on the Charles show
Joannie Edwardsen for lasting through all the changes forced on her
David Jones for pursuing life after radio
Cruisin Bruce for landing on his feet after being let go from a station that's landing on its butt
Salty Brine for the impact he made on Providence radio

> Out of curiosity, where is Larry Kruger currently ??

He weekends at LITE and works Metro Traffic

Salty brine defintely should be number #1
John Carpillio as a reporter not an anchor #2
paul & al for staying strong in ratings for so long # 3
And i'll stop at 3

Here's my list...
1. John Garabedian (Open House Party) for obvious reasons. He has a nationwide radio show that he does in his basement without shoes on. Plus he's a pioneer of satellite radio.
2. John Laurenti (WBOS) - He's my inspiration. Anytime I feel like I'm tired and I want to quit one of my jobs...I think about him. He works 7 days a week and has a wife and kids.
3. Jack Lawerence (WZLX) - I met him at CT School of Broadcasting. I'm his prodigy. I learned a bunch from him, 'til this day.
4. Lady D - Diana Steele (WBMX) - She's a great staple in Boston radio. She reminds me of what I'm really suppose to be sounding like. She never gives up.
5. Clarence Barnes (KOSS, Rick Dee's Weekly Top 40 Countdown & KIIS) - He's originally from Cape Cod. He has the integrity of an eagle.

Great topic! Here's mine:

1) Joe Hoppel.. country dj legend in Norfolk
2) Michael W. Perry (half of the Perry and Price show on KSSK in Honolulu). What the hell.. I'll add Larry Price too.
3) Neil Rogers.. talk show host extraordinairre in Miami
4) For nostalgia I'll put Jones and Joan who I loved listening to in Providence back in the day.
5) Scott Shannon on WPLJ in NYC

#1 Salty Brine
#2 Howard Stern
#3 "King" Arthur Knight
#4 Sherm Strickhouser
#5 Tie: Mort White('s Magic Garden), Stu McDonald ("Mortgage Talk on WPRO")

Joan Edwardsen: Has worked hard both on & off the air to get where she is. Her listeners care about her & she isn't a phony.

Mike Sheridan: 20 plus years of serving both listeners & countless radio stations & is just as entertaining & quick as anyone else on the radio. Someday a roast will be in order.

Tad & Chris: They know what makes people tick & how to present topics that actually affect peoples' lives in an entertaining way. They present themselves on the same level of the audience & don't try to come across as celebrities. They know when to be funny & when not to be & keep me listening through the spots to hear what they'll say or do next.

Robby Bridges: Consistently entertaining the way radio used to be working a format he's relatively new at, but you'd never know it to hear him. Good frame of reference, knows the market & the people, & smart enough to know format doesn't matter if you're good.

Rick Everett: At this point he's probably the only Providence PD who can say he's created something at the end of the day that didn't sound like it did the day before & the day before & the day before.

OK so 4 out of 5 of the above are on Cat Country. I'm biased. Shut my mouth & slap your grandma.

Clarence Barnes?

Does anyone know how to get in contact with Clarence? I would like to talk with him . We grew up together as teenagers.

Maybe you can give me some pointers?

Love, Keri
