Who the hell is Doug Mascott...and if was any good wouldn't he be on a station that more than 2 people have heard of?

Wow...this post got unburied from two years ago...but glad it did since I never got to post the first or second time around. From someone NOT in the biz (present or not too distant past):

1. Matty - Kiss 108 (still entertains me EVERY morning 15 years after I first started listening to him as a teenager; I can't imagine Boston radio without Matty)
2. Karen Blake - WZOU/Star/Oldies (every night at 6 pm when I was a kid, the red light was on and the Madam was in!! and she just seems like such a genuine person on the radio...nothing fake about her)
3. Uncle Dale - Kiss 108 (and the afternoon cartoons on channel 56 too!!)
4. Ed McMann - Kiss 108/AT40 (good voice...always had interesting factoids about the artists and the songs)
5. Rick Anderson - 1090 WILD (great voice...he made many long commutes home from work so much less stressful)

Five entertainers that I would tune into almost any station just to hear them as long as they weren't playing country or hard rock ;)

AND one last honorable mention, even though he hasn't been on the radio for nearly 15 years: Sunny Joe White...he was always the first to break the brand new record by whomever...and a fun guy to listen to...

Okay...my 5

1. Marc Laurence..Magic 106.7
2. Mike Finegan...Oldies 103.3
3. Jordan Rich...WBZ
4. Chuck Nowlin...WZLX
5. Laura Carlo...WCRB

"1. Jordan Rich- He kicks ass..he worked with me one on one for 5 weeks working on voiceovers..he returns calls/emails within a day..he is a knowledgeable guy."

Would have to agree that he is one of the good guys in the business. Don't know anyone who knows him who doesn't like him.

Sorry; Jordan wants to be loved by all listeners, and, alas, he largely succeeds. I say alas because he is NOT a good guy! His politics are extreme right wing, which wouldn't disqualify him from being labeled a good guy if I hadn't heard him pull some really sleazy stunts on the air.

Dan, you are so far left that everybody looks "extreme right wing" to you!

Your generic complaints aside, Jordan is an honorable and fair guy......

1...PAULA STREET...Everytime I worked at OLDIES 103 she went out of her way to help
me re-learn the board. Etc..Just a sweet person!!
2..ED PERRY...I've know Ed for 35 years...first doing mornings for his First station
on Cape Cod WCIB..When I was 21..and then of course my many times at WATD
We sometimes Fight like Brothers..But he's Always tried to Help whenever he can
3.DICK SUMMER...My radio Hero when I was growing up and One of the Nicest
people in the world..I'm Proud to say DICK SUMMER is my Friend
4.SEAN CASEY...When I first went to work at WHDH in the 70s
I was in Awe of him AND he STILL sounds just as Great at WPLM
5.AL BRADY LAW...My PD at WHDH...I Still believe he is the BEST!!!
PROGRAM DIRECTOR in the Country even to this day

As one of those "just listeners", here are my top 5 (or more) in no particular order......

-Loren Owens and Wally Brine
-Joe Martelle and the late Andy Moes
-Julie Devereaux
-Paula Street
-JJ Wright
-the late Victor K
-Joe McMillan (and not just because he posts on this board)
-Dave O'Gara (from the original WORC-AM/Worcester;currently WORC-FM/Oldies 98-9/Webster-Worcester)
-Bruce Palmer (WSRS/Worcester)

I like the people on the radio that have nice voices but even more so great personalities. Here are my picks:

Glen Ordway and his crew - WEEI - I know they talk all over each other sometimes but they sound like my family.
Karen Blake - OLDIES 103 - she always makes me feel like she is talking to just me...and I love her humor!
Matty - KISS-108 -He is still one of the best in the morning, in my opinion.
Hillman - WAAF - Locker room talk at it's best!
Howie Carr - WRKO - When he has an interesting topic.
