You're fired.

The old saying is, you haven't really worked in radio unless you've been fired at least once. That, the recent shake-ups, and whatever happened yesterday in Philipsburg make me wonder how many of us have been fired from a radio job.

I have. Have you?

Oh, yeah.

Lets see, Ray Horner got the chance to Axe me in Altoona when I was at WVAM. Donaldson and Mac Daniels had fun with it.

Was fired in Gainesville when I was Arbitron rated #18-34 and 18-49.

How is the mysterious Flashback Lunch guy doing?

I was too...BY YOU..LOL...I know you were only carying out orders from above.

Fired once and downsized once (I'd count that as a 2nd firing) so I guess consider me a REAL radio geek.

re: the fired thing......I was working outside of Indianapolis about 8 years ago...the station was sold.....the new owner came in on January 2nd, at 6am dropped 5 termination notices and final checks in envelopes with our names then proceded to shut off the transmitter and ordered us all out of the building.
At that point operations were taken over remotely from another city (nearby). Nothing was said and that was it.

Fired? Ah, the memories. I was a 19-year-old part-timer, and I suggested to our news director that she had "some kind of a f***ing learning disability." That remark didn't go over too well with management.

I was right, though. The woman WAS a half-wit. Honesty isn't always appreciated in the workplace.

Now that's COLD! Literally and figuratively...

i was let go after having 2 ratings periods in a row when the ratings went up, and ever since i was let go...the ratings have went down every book. Of course i have nothing to do with that, but it's fun to think about it and fun to take credit. The best part about my experience is that an employee was making terroristic threats to another employee and thinking it was a joke and i was the one who got the can due to a budget cut when a monkey could run B&T.

Gee, you must have worked for the same bimbo that got me and two others fired about three weeks after we swept the small market news awards!

And what went down in P'Burg??

I think Greg Matthews was shown the door at the buzz.

Yes, Greg Matthews got the shaft last week. Jill Gleeson (ugh!) is doing his show now and Fish is now on the Buzz in Jill's old shift. I also heard Austin Davis got the boot, too! First he walks out on The Buzz, then he gets canned! Man, why they hired him back in the first place is beyond me.

As for Greg, I thought he did a great job. I'll miss hearing him. Maybe he'll pop up somewhere else....*cough**cough**QWK Rock**cough**cough*

I have been fired 12 times from various radio jobs. Most recently, I was fired from my talk show "Fiesta Burrito, the Burrito Party" for using the F word to describe one of the most delicious microwavable burritos I have ever tasted in my life!
I should have said "freaking" but, in my opinion, this is just censorship.
I make burritos at Taco Bell now.
Is this life of Charley HooHoo ironic, or not, I tell you!
Charley HooHoo

:)Some of us would LOVE to have been fired in radio, but could never get hired in the first placeCount your blessings!
