You're starting to annoy me.

I am no dummy. radio stations say things and do things, have slogans and marketing ploys to attract listeners and get ratings. With that said, I am starting to get annoyed by Soft Rock 105.1. It's getting a little bothersome to hear what's coming from that station. be it Hey we're Soft Rock 105.1, but here's Usher-DJ's Got Us Fallin In Love. their program director, "(insert random date), we played 99% more music in the morning than Fresh or 96.3. In fairness to Fresh, and 96.3, their morning shows are way better than anything 105.1 could possibly put on. I strongly believe that they need to change their Title from Soft Rock 105.1, with what they have done with the music, it doesn't seem to fit. And "More Music, Less Talk? Maybe their personalities aren't that great. All in all, nice work finding a niche and getting past 100.3 before the Holidays, and deciding to chuck it into the wind to try to compete with 96.3.

I wish 105.1 would switch its playlist to sound like WFEZ out of Miami. That's a true Soft/gold AC station, and Detroit currently has nothing that sounds like it. The last thing Detroit needs is another station to play the same music that 95.5, 96.3, 98.7, and 100.3 are playing.

That's where I had the Soft AC idea recently. Now, to be fair, I added Smooth Jazz and perhaps another format, but a Soft AC could work. The only question is who would try it?

I give up on this station....why they felt the need to basically give Detroit 5 CHR-like stations is beyond me.

You may play more music than Fresh and DVD in the mornings, but that's easy to do when you virtually don't have a morning show.

Come to think of it, are there even any personalities at 105.1?

I heard WMRX 97.7 from the Midland area and really liked that standards/gold ac type format. I wish we had a station here in Cleveland that would run with that. We have a CHR overload here too in my opinion.

I just checked out the article, and that makes sense considering the current music they play. Somewhat interested to see what happens.

WMGC (105.1) just relaunched as "Today's 105.1" and now includes some currents as well. I wonder if this rebranding will help or hurt the station.

@Jasonthegreat: I think it helps them because if they want to play more currents, get a branding that fits what you're doing. The one thing I would like to see them do is knock off the "we play more music than 96.3" business. in July: 96.3(4.8), 105.1 (3.1). I know what they are trying to do, but crawl before you walk.
