Yousendit.com pricing

Has anyone noticed the new Yousendit.com pricing?

50 MB free without signing up
100 MB free with signing up
1 GB $4.99/mo

and then 2 business pricings.

I guess it's not that bad, but we do occasionally have airchecks greater than 100 MB. I haven't liked the alternatives, but maybe time to look into those, at least for the 100+ MB files.

I liked using sendspace.com Some of the WABC Saturday Night Oldies airchecks were posted there and were simple to DL with a DL manager program.

I've never cared too much for YSI, the 25 DL/7 day limits annoyed me more than the 50MB limit. Some other alternatives are rapidshare.de, megaupload.com (up to 250 MB), bigupload.com (up to 2 GIG!), and sendthisfile.com, 11mbit.in, axifile.com, and more.

I don't know if any of the YSI/rapidshare "hacks" listed here still work but it's worth a look. http://labnol.blogspot.com/2005/11/rapidshare-yousendit-megaupload-free.html

John,

Have you looked into Box.net at all?

The free accounts offer 1GB of storage. Which should be enough to host a month's worth of airchecks.

Interesting Lance.

Although it appears that anyone who wants to download requires to signup for box.net as well?

I just signed up for box.net and it was quite easy. With the free account it will take a 1 gig file, just like YSI used to do. I haven't tried the service yet, so I don't know how fast upload/download speeds are. I'll post something next week. Matt

I just tried posting a 75mb aircheck on my box.net account, and it gave me an error saying that I need to upgrade to a paid account in order to upload a single file more than 10 megs in size.

It says you have to download "Zango Search Assistant" which is a MAJOR piece of spyware/adware and that's nothing but a hassle.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I've never tried any of these tricks - being on 56k dial-up cuts back on any ability I have to be a "leech" - but some of them like the "change d to e" and the anonym.to redirect URL seem fairly safe and simple if anyone insists on using YSI.

I use the Proxomitron as a web filter, and using it as such enables use of a download manager on SOME YSI links, the ones that are at download.yousendit links but NOT the ones at s##.yousendit links. The URL shows up in Proxomitron's log file. For some reason the same trick doesn't work on Rapidshare.de links even though I get the URL the same way.

Megaupload and Sendspace links are simple copy and paste DLs, one more reason I prefer them to YSI.
