Seriously, this faceless station has got to do something. No one on the air feels like "YSP." They just seem like jocks...including Eskin's son. I don't know why they don't just hire back Couzin Ed and Matt & Huggy for example...those guys were YSP. They were fun, unique and fit in well...and I enjoyed their shows. I'm sure no one cares anymore...but there are times when I just can't take MMR and to have an alternative with people I like would really be nice.

Personally, I like WMMR, but that's just me. those in the north and western edges of the Philly market have an alternative. To the west they got 1057 The X and to the north you got 1071 The Bone.

I'm still not seeing the move of WIP to FM. It doesn't make any sense while WIP is still doing well on 610.
WIP is Number 6 6+ with a 4.4 in the last book. How much better is it really going to do moving to FM?
Combined, WIP and WYSP have a 7.0 in November (up from a 6.2 in September and a 6.8 in October). If you move WIP to 94.1, I can't think of anything else to put on 610 that will crack 1.0 in the ratings, other than the two formats CBS is already running on its other AM stations.
If I'm right that 610 without sports gets sub 1.0 ratings, moving WIP to FM loses total AQH ratings for the cluster unless WIP-FM pulls more than a 6 share. Which is not going to happen.
The answer to the WYSP problem is to put something better on 94.1, not to kill 610.

If I were in charge at WYSP, here’s what I would do: I would get Opie and Anthony live from WYSP’s studio from 6AM - 11AM without them moonlighting on XM. I would get Kidd Chris 3PM – 7PM and modern rock with real DJs to fill in the rest of the time. I would drop the Eagles because they hired that dog murderer Michael Vick. It’s just a fantasy. What do I know; I’m just another unemployed radio guy?
YSP's best chance would be to go back to Classic Rock and go deep into the albums not just the hits. MMR is going to keep their "Everything That Rocks" format and RFF is covering the alternative...kinda. This move would put YSP against MGK instead of all 3 stations. I would suggest a real alternative format but CBS is only good at destroying those like they killed WHFS.

Just be grateful that you live on an area where y102 and t102 are not the most listened to stations. The only reason they have so many listeners is because it's the only thing people can tunenin in their office radios, either that they just enjoy shitty music. Ysp ain't that bad either if you compare it to stations that suck more, like y102 and t102.
As for the eagles, their phillys team no matter who they have in there. They will not be taken of ysp or any channel that plays the games

Sure - Bonaduce and Eskin have local ties, but Danny has spent a majority of his career on the West Coast after his Eagle 106 run and Eskin's son made most of his bones at Q101 in Chicago. Jennifer Reed was last heard in Atlanta and I think Gordon came from Chicago with Eskin. So none of them really know the Philly radio landscape the way that they should. Sadly, that's how the radio business is these days - even when you have live and local, it still sounds like it's pumped in on the satellite...

Not being from an area isn't a good excuse for being 'disconnected'. Quite a few WHFS jocks were from Boston and Gina Crash is from the Philly area if I'm not mistaken. They cared enough about the station and listeners to sound like longtime locals and I had no idea they weren't natives to MD/DC until I read it online. Preston Elliott is another example- you'd never guess he was from Missouri(?), he sounds really Philly to me.

what was the name of that dj who singed a 5 year contract then got fired 3 months after he signed it ?
Nobody that's why you can't remember the DJs name and even if it really did happen the DJ was the one that was laughing all the way to the bank because he was getting paid for five years for doing nothing but sitting on his butt. If WYSP had any plans for changing formats they would not have signed Danny another year contract..WYSP knows what their ratings are from when Danny first started till now so if they signed another year contract he must be doing something good for the station..
