Due to inactive radio news let me just throw this out there, does anyone think ysp would/should return to their Classic Rock roots, ala the early days of Stern. MGK is not setting the world on fire with their bland blend of CR. I sent Andre an e-mail asking for third time lucky by foghat, he did reply and said the song was great but his PD did not have it in file nor would let it be played....they are so safe. It seems ysp does not want a committment to Active, although they do it the best, so why not try Classic rock when this format they have now finally bites the dust.

Well there's always 97.5 The Hawk - oh wait, they're dead - nevermind... ;D

RWS, if you miss the old YSP format so much, why don't you do a combination of what Hy Lit and Y-Rock are doing, and resurrect the old brand with your own radio stream?

Collect and play the songs that make up your dream format and drop in the classic WYSP liners. If it catches on in popularity on the web, there's actually a chance that CBS Radio (or someone) will notice and actually do something about their format. It's a better chance than your repeated complaints on this message board have, anyway.

The Hawk would have played it... too bad their gone.

but YSP should keep their weekend format on 24/7

Why not a station that plays some of the "new" classic rock? Late 70's 80's and early 90's stuff?

The early MTV stuff, A few hair bands, Some early grunge.

Just a thought...

sounds great... right on the money.....but who would try it...YSP came the closest '96-'00

Yeah, and i really enjoyed it. Never understood why they switched it up.

Will have to maybe try some small market AM station ;D

i stopped listening to 94.1 when they were wibg-fm in monaural in roughly 1968 ... the few times i listened to 94.1 after that , as wysp , i thought "i like wmmr 93.3 more" .... but at least it (94.1) was listenable...nowadays with the format changes 94.1 goes through , i deem 94.1 as a zero-credibility station ... just my opinion .. no offense intended to anyone on here

that would be great!

With WMMR having a lock on the MOR Rock (think Creed, Daughtry, Nickelback, etc.) and WRFF as the Adult Alternative, the move that WYSP should make is pretty obvious. Let's see: Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, Mudvayne, System Of A Down, Static-X, Disturbed, Godsmack ... all bands that have Gold and/or Platinum albums to their name, and all bands that are barely (if at all) represented on WMMR or anywhere else.

Combine this and similar acts with a some more mainstream acts, and you have the edgy Active Rock station that WYSP's entire coverage area is missing. Think WZBH (93.5 The Beach), covering the Delmarva area - that would be an excellent sound for Philly. YSP sounded like a slightly edgier alternative to MMR before - if they take it a couple of steps further, they will easily take their place among the top stations in the market.

stations have to temper the "heavy" stuff, platinum or not, they polarize and audience and appeal young..too young and you can't run beer ads

CBS (as usual) dropped the ball by not going with some sort of modern or active rock format on WYSP.

Look at WRFF.

Their cume is now *double* that of WYSP!

I realize FM Talk is a TSL driven format, but there's no way in hell WYSP's billing can be anywhere close to what it once was.

They made a mistake by not flipping back to rock the instant O & A started in morning drive.

They have been dropping like a rock and will continue to do so, the Eagles bring them some ratings, the other parts are pathetic, how can a station that was once a Active leader sink to this....The Active should of stayed after Sterns departure. I always get ridiculed for this but they should of been music intense moving the Eagles to WIP and being the full time Active Rocker. WRFF proves you can bill and rate high, without pompous jocks, contests, sports and sex talk. Did anyone hear the Spanish commercial still being played on WRFF, is it a carry over from WUBA.

I have heard that spanish commercial airing, thought it was funny. I know when they first switched I heard a few Home Depot ads in spanish....I wonder if it is a glitch that this one is running.
