They have been dropping like a rock and will continue to do so, the Eagles bring them some ratings, the other parts are pathetic, how can a station that was once a Active leader sink to this....The Active should of stayed after Sterns departure. I always get ridiculed for this but they should of been music intense moving the Eagles to WIP and being the full time Active Rocker. WRFF proves you can bill and rate high, without pompous jocks, contests, sports and sex talk. Did anyone hear the Spanish commercial still being played on WRFF, is it a carry over from WUBA.
PPMs are up for the summer, but you wouldn't see any changes until after the fall at the very earliest I would guess.

I just hope and pray if they start playing music its not Active, they do the Active format the best but this part time crap is unacceptable. Either go Active full time or give it up, they are still stopping some underperforming urban station from becoming the Active Rocker in Philly.

whats MMR considered? mainstream rock, active rock, or just rock. i know it aint modern rock/alternative or classic rock.

and whats the difference between mainstream and active rock

The difference is that Active Rock is heavier than Mainstream Rock. Disturbed, Godsmack and Korn are core artists on an Active Rocker, whereas Nickelback, Creed and The Black Crowes are more likely to be heard on a Mainstream Rocker. Also, you're more likely to hear classic rock, hair rock and arena rock from the '70s and '80s on a Mainstream Rocker. An Active will usually only play Ozzy, AC/DC and a handful of others from this era, while Mainstream Rockers are far more likely to play The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, etc.

Greater Media's cluster of stations (WMMR, WRAT, WDHA, etc.) are all stations that combine Classic Rock titles with the softer side of the Active Rock format. Expect: Hinder, Daughtry, Buckcherry, etc. Don't expect: Static-X, Killswitch Engage, Mudvayne, etc.

So if this flip is true, that means Barsky will have been fired/removed/let go from how many stations in Philadelphia during his career? i believe we're up to five now. reminds of Philly sports teams. . .they always get so close, but Ohhh, to no avail. i only wish i had that many 2nd, i mean 5th chances.

oh, ok. but dont a lot of mainstream rock stations play some heavier rock as well, like kron godsmack and disturbed? b/c 95.9 and 93.3 do play those guys.

yea, but the difference between active and mainstream has been bothering me for a while notw. i guess MMR and WRAT are a combination of Active & Mainstream. idk

They both seem to play Korn and Disturbed in moderation. Both seem to be dayparted while the station leans toward classic and MOR acts like Hinder and Nickelback during the day. I don't know about MMR, but RAT actually plays a lot of crap remixes of Korn songs instead of the originals (Coming Undone, Make Me Bad, and some others), which is something I don't understand. Godsmack seems to get a pretty good amount of spins throughout the day, mostly because every song they release seems to reach the Top 10 on the rock charts.

But there's still a lot of very popular acts that MMR and RAT won't touch, while they play tons of acts that can be heard on every other station in the market. This is something that I wish would change - if they're trying to court the female demos with Hinder, Daughtry and Nickelback, they're all better served by other stations in both markets more in tune with their tastes.

DHA does seem a little bit different from the rest, now that I think about it. They seem even softer, maybe even AOR at times, kind of like WBAB in Long Island or WZXL in South Jersey.
