Yule time..

Two things. a) Do we really want Cumulus running another station in town? b) The demand for talk on FM is real. I notice that WBUV out of Pensacola shows up in the ratings in Mobile regularly. It's mostly the same lineup as WNTM, but on FM. It's a weaker signal but people ARE listening.
 
Look what Hale is doing to Freedom 94.5, he burnt that station to the ground. We do need a full power FM talk station, the question is, will we get one?

Not well enough to want to listen... not good enough to listen in the car but it is there if you have the right type of directional antenna or can live with a grade D signal. WFLF-FM 94.5 Panama City had a very good signal in FWB before "Freedom" came along. Panama City's 101.1 is still an option, albeit not much better than 93.7. AM is the best option in FWB for daytime talk radio at this time.
 
and the sun sets, it's either Cuba or San Ant. Texas. WSB is strong, too but, they don't carry C2C, neither does WWL, their signal gets killed by Radio Reloj.

WWL-AM 870 is also fairly solid at night here in Central Florida, and it's solid during the day along the Florida Gulf Coast over in the Crystal River area heading South towards Tampa Bay. WWL's reception is local for about 5-miles inland during the day, then you lose it.
 
WWL also carries very well down I-10. I'd say 300-350 miles from New Orleans you still have a solid signal any day. Is there some "science" behind an AM radio station signal carrying better on the interstate than on the back roads? I've read/heard that train tracks can carry AM radio signals a very long way, but I don't know why concrete and asphalt would. I know the power lines cause problems with WWL when driving around town in Pensacola but even out in the country the signal goes south... but on I-10 it's always crisp. I live close enough to the intercoastal to pick up WWL anytime. If I go out to the beach and I can jam out to KLEB 1600 any day. I can't listen to the talk radio shows on KLEB, I don't speak French.
 
I never even thought about outdoor, overhead, parallel and perpendicular power lines causing interference... even though I've always paid close attention not to run RGB6 and Cat5 parallel indoors...
I've also never experienced a problem with other people running them cables parallel.... but my undiagnosed OCD causes me to go behind them and "Fix" their mistakes, even though everything works fine. Learn something new every day every so often. :)

I guess that could also apply to the train track theory since most train tracks were used as the original power line/telegraph easements... Maybe those old copper lines are acting as antennas for AMs located near tracks? Maybe?
 
im in north florida i dont get WWL-AM 870 during the daytime. I know Panama City does if im driving there. But @ nights I get WWL and WSB better. During the daytime i get all the Tampa Bay's AM stations like WDAE,WWBA,WHBO,WFLA,WMGG,WGUS-AM 680 (Tampa) and AM 1340 WTAN.

The weak AM stations from Tampa Bay like WGUL,WXYB,
I also get AM 640 (spanish) im not sure if that's WVLG or cuban? Also AM 670 (spanish) could be cuban

I know AM-680 and AM 1550 in Tampa are sister stations but I wish ESPN Deoportes will be on AM-680 rather than AM 1550.

I can get WAMA but its hard to get during the daytime. sometimes i do sometimes i dont.
 
It looks like 99.9 is doing it part time, it won't be long before their strobies go all yule...

And CCENG, my friend...I wish I was with you and Jenny Woo in Seattle sipping on the Hendrick's when you were there. "I'm close." I saw a large bottle of Hendrick's today (about the size of a barrel of oil and just as heavy) and realized I need a beach, a stick and a straw.

I went ahead and added a Christmas tag to Magic 93.7 in Biloxi, too. They were doing a few hours of music the night I last checked, but weren't quite full time yet.

Slowly but surely it's beginning. At least there's the smooth jazz on the 99.9's HD-2. Did you ever pick up an HD radio and try it out to see what you could get?
 
..and for those of you enjoying the Awesome 80s weekend on WNCV, I have a feeling this will be the last till Jan. Coast usually switches after Thanksgiving which makes cents.
