Good trend for Z100. But one of the reasons they passed up HOT and POWER is because of Hurban WCAA-WZAA stealing away some of the rhythmic audience.

Any way you dice it that was no easy feat!. Big Ups to Poleman and Cubby, Z 100 is once again mighty no matter how one tries to justify it a win is a win.

Very good trend for Z 100 nno question, but its just a trend. IThey will still have strong #'s, but I highly doubt Z will be ahead of Power & Hot for long<P ID="signature">______________

don't be too sure about that; hip hop has peaked, it's now just another flavour of pop music, and hip hop fans burn and bootleg instead of purchasing, so their strength at retail is over. 50 Cent was the last gasp, as Kanye leads down the pop hop trail.

Thats dumb.

ALL music fans under the age of 21 like to burn and bootleg its not about hip hop fans which is aprt of the reason the music industry is dying and hip hop artists are the only ones still selling with any consistency. More than rock artists, more than most pop artists, more than the country artists, 50 cents sales were great but they were also hyped more than other artists too. Are most artists selling like 50 these days? no but that's artists of ALL genres, no one is selling nine and ten million copies anymore. Green Day's American idiot might be the one thatc omes closest to that within the next yyear, and the mariah Carey record is already at six million. The industry is failing, there is no case you can make for hip Hop having peaked and being just another pop culture genre, its the one genre still selling, wake up! And by the way I think 50 cent is the weakest artist out there, so Im not some hip hop crusader posting, I'm justa realist.

>well, the ^Top ten biggest albums for the year had only 50 Cent and the Game representing hip hop, with black eyed peas in the r& b zone.Everything else is mariah, gwen stefani, rascal flatts, kelly clarkson, green day, coldplay, etc,so hip hop is hardly the dominant format based on cold, hard sales data.

30% of the list you refer to is overindexing significantly!!!1

Hip hop formats, whehter they be Churban, urban or whatever, represent about 12% of the national cume, but 30% of the top 10 record sales.

That means that the average hip hop partisan buys more CDs than the non'partisan, per capita.

Using the top 10, by the way, is hardly a good indicator of anything.
