This is a good CHR station. This is what I call CHR done right. I was in Hanover New Hampshire this weekend and I was listening to them. Signal goes out alot farther than Coverage maps indicate.

PROS:
Good playlist, classy imaging, and creative throwbacks like Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend", "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas which I haven't heard a true CHR touch in a while, "Buy U a Drink" by T-Pain. Very few commercials breaks. Deejays did not sound voicetracked, sounded like your average small market deejays told by the program director to keep it short and sweet.

CONS:
Not too many, but the station sounded very pitched to me, and it was more obvious in some songs than others, as if some edits were pitched and some weren't. Not a processing freak, but I found the processing a little tough, not the 'clearest' sounding signal, since I'm spoiled by major market stations.

Also Legal ID was barely legal, they practically whisper the calls and COL but you can't even hear the COL over all of the noise in the backround.

If we had a station like this in Boston Kiss 108 would be scrambling so fast.

Okay not scramble, thats stretching it, but if a station with a similar format to Z97.1 went on the air in Boston, Kiss 108 would would have real competition for sure.

I dont think Kiss 108 is that bad,, its not the best, but certainly their are far worse.. Does this Z 97.1 stream,, It sounds worth a listen.

Hey Midwest so you ask others for a stream link when I asked you for an aircheck of Z103.5 in your area and you don't reply at all whether you have one or not? Unbelievable. That doesn't make sense. I wanted an aircheck and you just plained ignored me on it or something.

Icycool, you need to start acting cool. This thread isn't about Z-103.5. Perhaps Clubber doesn't have an aircheck of the station, or perhaps he hasnt had time to respond to your request yet. I know that he doesnt work at or for Z-103.5, and he doesnt owe you anything. He simply asked, here in this thread, whether Z-97.1 Rutland streams. That is both relevant to this discussion, and a fair question.
You, on the other hand, come across as someone who, shall we say, is rather ungrateful. You posted earlier this year that 97.5 WABB Mobile sucks...b/c they didn't send you a T-Shirt. Since when is that a criteria to rate a station? Furthermore, you don't even live anywhere near the station's coverage area.
With my thrad you expect me to post it in a way that caters exclusively to you, rather than show gratitude for the information I and others have supplied you with FOR FREE.

Next time you have an issue with someone on any board you should consider PMing them first, having some patience, or if they never respond take it as a hint as maybe you've rubbed off on them the wrong way.

I'd really like for this CHR community to stay friendly and united. When I make an error I'll usually post an apology, or strive to behave better. In return it's only fair to ask others to do the same.

You're right. But it's my criteria to rate a station like that because that tells you they don't care about listeners. I saw the t-shirt online (really wanted it) and they would probably give me one if I showed up in person there but that's a whole different topic. I did not mean to hijack this thread and am sorry if I acted out of line here. Just made me frustrated that Midwest wanted to listen to a new station but then not even reply when I wanted to hear this Z103.5 - he didn't give back. I did PM him once - didn't reply. Why, I don't know.

Im sorry,,, I honestly didnt ge the PM... I cant really aircheck the station as I dont have a cassette player and the reception inside our house is noisy, as it is 37 miles away, and only a class A station.. If you want I can post a sample hour or two.. Im not ignoring you Icy,, Im really not. Im sorry if you think I was, but im not like that, and I dont have a constant power supply here,, not even access to indoor running water, so Im in a constant battle to get a shower and chop and stack firewood so we can stay warm... Go easy on me bro, im having hard times, and I may be back in Indiana soon.. I cant even get enough food and cant even find even a bland low pay job here, so im constantly hitting up bussinesses and filling out apps. We get all our power from a generator,, I have no TV, and I use a Verizon mobil card for net access.

Icycool, thx for stepping up and apologizing. Believe me, both me and Clubber have posted some silly/foolish things in the past, but it's important to try and own up to your mistakes.
As you can see, Clubber had some good reasons as to why he couldn't help you out. Everyone's got personal problems they might be dealing with, and usually people try not to let their personal problems spill onto online forums. For instance, I'm going to be heading to Israel for a while starting next week. Even though I have a Master's degree, the job market right now is very challenging. While I'm sure if I wait it out long enough I'll get the kind of job I'm looking for, but I've been out of work for a couple of months now. So I'd rather head back there as it may be easier for me to find work through childhood friends, as well as family contacts, along with submitting my resume to as many places as possible. Things will hopefully turn out for the best, and I'm sure I'll still be active here on Radio Info.

Sorry if I'm now hijacking this thread as well, LOL, that was not my intention.

Ive always wanted to go to Jerusalum and tel Aviv,,,,, their are some good chrs over their... Stay safe and keep in touch. ;)

Also Chrles why dont you see about getting a job in CHR radio,, I would here if they werent so far away,,, We get alot of CHRs here, but most are 100kw torches and some are 70-100 miles away....

Thx for your words of encouragement. It's one of my dreams to someday try and start a CHR station in a place like Tel Aviv, so who knows maybe someday I'll look into it.
Currently there are no real CHRs in Israel, at all. There's several stations throughout the country known for playing a lot of Pop music, but it's usually either blocked programming, or more of a Hot A/C type of station. Galgalaz, for example, (91.8 FM in Tel Aviv and other frequencies all over Israel) plays a lot of currents, but also some 80s and 90s, and 50 percent of the content is usually in Hebrew. 99 FM, which used to be known as Radio Escape (and prior to that as 99 BU) was a very Dance friendly CHR for most of the deace, but got bought out last year by someone who took it in a more A/C direction. Radius 100 FM goes CHR at night after 7 PM, but in the daytime you've got hours dedicated to love songs, or music of the 50s and 60s. The same is true for Radio Haifa 107.5, or somewhat true for Radio Jerusalem 101 FM. 103 FM is pretty much a talk station, similiar to Reshet Bet (a government owned station heard all over the state). Radio Tel Aviv 102 FM also pretty much goes CHR at night, but is very talk intensive in the afternoons, and between 2-4 PM plays eclectic Rock music.
90 FM has several current Pop music shows that air daily.

There's also a station dedicated to Classical music, and one that plays nothing but Israeli songs. Most stations though don't have a defined format, and are somewhat unfocused. I wish that would be change as in other parts of the Middle East the radio dial seems to be light years ahead. Lebanon, for example, has had its own CHR stations since the early 80s, first with Radio One 105.5, and then with stations like Magic 102, and Hit FM 100.5. Currently the big CHRs there are Radio One, Mix FM 104.4, and NRJ 99 FM. In the big cities in Turkey there are like 4-5 CHR/Pop stations, which are usually very Dance friendly, along with several pure Dance stations. Cyprus has had its own CHRs for over a decade, and even prior to that you've had BFBS Radio 1 there all over the island. In Dubai CHR radio has been around since at least the early 90s, Jordan started to get its own CHRs several years ago, Cairo got one earlier in the decade, as did Morocco, and even Damascus in Syria got a CHR last year. So it's a bit frustrating that Israel lags behind many of its neighbors in terms of radio yet at the same time Israel is one of the wealthiest countries per capita in the Middle East (I think in the Top 30 overall in the world).

I will say this though, there are some great weekly Dance shows at night on many of Israel's radio stations.
