Z 97.1

So i just went on the Z site, which looks pretty good so far, but needs more. In any case, it says Marissa is on the air now? I can't help but think of The OC when i see that name, but anyways, who are the new jocks? Now living in Chicago im not able to hear the new Z, so any help would be appreciated. Morning show? Mid days? Afternoons? Imaging? Playlist seems tight. Mix shows? Thanks!

Yo FM Boy...interesting post...why the interest? Here's what your're missing...or are you?

Morning show? Had one...now they don't

Marissa? Do you really think she from this market? Have you ever heard her give a temp during the weather? Sounds like she's not from 'round these parts

Afternoons? How many times can a jock laugh without jokes? Seriously strugglin'

Imaging? Mega-week...voice-over sounds like a news guy...the rest sounds like the rest of Pamal Rutland...same 6 sweepers all day...

Playlist? How would know if it was "tight"? I thought you were in Chicago? I don't see a streaming button on the web site...

Mix shows? Used to have the Thunderstorm...somehow thats gone...hip hop no good for the old white folks running the joint...

Long way to go for the "all new" Z97...the once MIGHTY Z sounds like a bunch of kids working on a mix-tape.

Website? Puulease!?!?!? Nice cartoons...don't expect many improvements short-term...

In short...brings me back to the days of T-97... :-*

FM Boy, this seems a little strange to me. You say you want to know about the new Z because you live in Chicago, but you also say the play list seems tight. How do you know the play list when you can not hear the station? Z does not stream online. As for your other questions, why do you assume that there is a whole new line up? There is and it sounded better as Kiss than Z. As a 97.1 listener growing up in the upper valley I was excited for the switch back to Z! I even interviewed for a position a few months back. I was very excited until I met the new management, truely the most unprofessional people I have ever met with in radio. Lately, I dont know what is going on over there? All the Jocks sound new and somewhat out of place, like they hired the first people that walked through the door that would work for minimum wage. I know I laughed at the salary when they told me what it would be.

Jeez people, I was only going by the TOP 10 songs they listed on the site. I lived in VT for years, i'm a CHR fan and i've heard Z almost daily from 1995 when we moved to VT right thru to 2007, off and on 2002-07. I know of new air-staff because if u read what i wrote, it says who is on the air on their site. Relax people.

hey, yeah you guys need to chill out 8) Relax. They got a great ops and GM. I really dont care for the Hip Hop. Im more of a talk guy myself, you know weather, storm coverage, trees that are down in the community etc.. The new Z97.1 is in good hands. Sure they may have a few bugs(what station doesnt?), but they will work them out. :-*

Oh my my my! ;D Oh Houdini! Where have you been? PrettyBoy has missed you so ;) Why have you chosen to leave us with no HUNKS on the air? Why oh why all the GIRLS! I miss my hunk sandwich for breakfast. I hope you can make it right?!?

p.s. I miss you from the board. :p

To be positive, it seems like Z 97 has become a true 'work in progress'. Yep, the midday person is from outta-town, love the way she says, "Bomoseen", spoken like a true native lol.. Doesn;t seem to have the boat dealers' name on that lake down too well either. Not sure why the esteemed professor 86'ed the "Thunderstorm", seemed liked they 'kissed off' the revenue sponsors as well. For what it was, it was a great show that appeared to generate advertising revenue. Z 97 used to run "Open House Party" on weekends, I think there were some tech issues there. Z should be discounted as the station is more than capable to generate ratings more importantly, revenue. Please give the Backtrax USA promos a rest, I promise I'll tune in.. Honest I will !

The imaging person, Sean Caldwell, currently on Z97 also does imaging for 94.9 WHOM Mt. Washington, The Weather Channel, WCBS AM New York and the Yankees Network, KYW-AM in Philly, and tons more. He used to do Fly 92 once upon a moon and WEZF as well. He's good, at his voice is coming out of someone's speakers somewhere at any given time.

I know most hate Clear Channel, but IMHO, KISS sounded pretty good. You have to admit, CC knows CHR. Imaging was pretty tight, playlist was like any other CHR in the country. Altho not a huge hip hop fan, Thunderstorm was like nothing of its kind around! AJ sounded pretty big market, John & Judy well, ok moving on, even JAG sounded pretty good when he was on. I havent heard 97.1 since the Z re-flip but i will be in the area in September and hope it sounds as good as it did when Clear Channel was running the ship!

Clear Channel's CHR stations sounded tight because they borrowed ideas and imaging from each other...smalltown Rutland could use the same ideas as and much of the same imaging as KIIS in LA...yes, they all sounded much alike, but IT DID SOUND TIGHT! The troubling thing with Pamal is, that thay have a top CHR performer in a neighboring market. You would think that the Howell's would dispatch someone from Albany to help out the struggling Z...instead of leaving up to a bunch of old fuddy duddies trying to figure out what is "hip with the kids"...um...the kids don't use "hip" anymore("phat" is out too)...instead of guessing what the CHR listener wants or who the CHR listener is...why not mirror Fly92 and see what happens???

Sounds easy...right? You would think...but instead of using the 50K signal to their full advantage, the Gilligan Crew puts all their focus on Rutland County...I remember the days that Z killed in Leb and Glens Falls...even Manchester VT and Middlebury, even Stratton...now, just take a short drive south or west, and you'll hear Albany stations everywhere you go...

No doubt, the Z will be back...just hope that the Z won't just be in Cool JaZZ 97....

That's a great point, Dudeman. One would think that with the CHR hertiage of Fly 92, and even K104 in Poughkeepsie it would be a no-brainer to put that experience to work with Z 97. I guess the same goes for the well done AC heritage with B95.5 and WHUD in Westchester which could be used for liven up WJJR as well. All of the 3 50kw's in the stable used to market outside of the 05701 zipcode to some degree with Kiss / Z 97 seeming to be more known for it.

Is their top of the hour ID still WZRT Rutland, Killington, Lebanon or did they drop Lebanon???

P.S. Does anyone remember when KISS had the short lived traffic report? Lol...i found that hilarious.

They still ID Lebanon, that is the other end iof big ratings company market designated at #179. You're right, the traffic reports were kind of funny.

Thanks for the compliment, FM Boy.

Traffic reports were a CC mandate, being done from out of market and sent over.

Jo Jo, that is because there is actually traffic in Burlington. That was the worst idea, a traffic report in the Rutland area "Watch out there is a John Deer tractor on rt.7 going 15mph chasing a cow. Stay tuned, more details coming up at the bottom of the hour"

Gosh, lakemonster!

I'm surprised that one of those crackerjack radio consultants haven't come up with the JOHN DEERE VS THE COW COMMUNITY CHALLENGE!

Listerners could bet on the winner by contributing a dollar to some radio station charity?

Talk about EXCITING RADIO............NOT!

argytunes

Hindsight is a great thing, the traffic reports in Rutland should have been sponsored by Vermont Railway, since the only traffic in Rutland is pretty much created by the train traffic coming in and out of the city, especially those very long freighters crossing Route 7 to and from Bellows Falls, which gives me the idea that the train industry appears to be rather robust. Nice try on the cows and John Deere tractors.. Mooooooo.

I really don't remember WHEN ZZZZZZZZZZ97 actually "killed."
But it will. I do however enjoy the revisionist history version of how GREAT ZZZZZZZZZ97 once was. Sounds like a clsss reunion of fomer sales geeks or Monday morning quaterbacks trying to call in plays from the sidelines! When are you going to realize you are NOT EVEN in the game? Or the same stadium.
Enjoy you're memories. ;)
