Z100 Drops the "#1" from New York's "#1" Hit Music Station

I noticed that Z100 is no longer calling itself New York's #1 Hit Music Station, and just using New York's Hit Music Station. Anyone know why?

This is old news. There was a thread on this many months ago.

That being said, there not being any other Top 40 for all these years didn't stop Z from using the #1 line in their slogan. From what I read, it's part a new strategy throughout CC to eliminate those sorts of slogans.

Well, I think that's true, on a local level. The problem I think, (like I said in the previous thread) is that these sorts of logans lose their impact if they are overused by the same company.

Wow. This is really old news now. I love how loooooong it takes radio "observers" to notice things sometimes, LOL.

I think the issue at hand with Z100 right now is whether those dry segues at the beginning of every hour sound good or not. Personally, I think they're refreshing, but take some getting used to.

Those "dry segs" have become apparent on 106.7 and Q104, so it was only a matter of time before they hit the Z.

Oh I'm sorry I forgot nobody can post anything positive on this board... how do you know who is posting?

DtotheJ: There have always been dry segues on "New York's 106.7". AC's often dry seg...it's not necessarily a Clear Channel thing. Don't listen to Q104.3 too often, but dry segues are also common on some classic rock stations. The Z100 thing is notable because you NEVER hear it on CHR.

I've been noticing an increase in dry segues across the dial in the past few months.. G-Rock in Monmouth-Ocean, NJ started using them recently, and I've noticed them on the new K-Rock and Radio 104.5 in Philly as well.
