z100 listening to middays: is the jock voicetracking different content for web?

I'm in Atlanta but as I work today thought I'd stream Z100.

Listening to the midday air talent Shelley Wade. She is plugging z100.com so much, for example when doing a bit over a song intro about Mariah Carey renting Tommy Hiliger's East Hampton home for $350,000, she says for more info go to z100.com keyword Shelley. I am convinced that Clear Channel is having air talent voicetrack different content for the web stream vs. the terrestrial. Am I correct?

That sounds like something that Shelley would say over a record on the terrestrial airwaves. Stations plug their websites all the time, especially the CC ones.

Re: z100 listening to middays: is the jock voicetracking different content for w

Some of the content is different to seamlessly flow into breaks. Commercials that air over broadcast cannot be streamed online, so in an effort to flow cleanly some content is different, also additional "promos" for contests, z100.com, and the z-lounge are thrown in as cover for the time when the bonus song (that airs during the commercial) and the time when they go back to the studios.

Also as Willl put it, CC stations plug their websites a lot, especially with such an emphasis on the Z-zone or similar chat sites (Z-Zone promos air over broadcast, too). Also CC DJs are told to push the website and the website contests.

Shelley voicetracks for Kiss 108 in Boston during the same midday slot so one would have to imagine the actual voice time she gets is limited and is probably limited to just plugging websites and contests for both.

Actually most of what Shelly does for Z100 is real and live, with the exception of meetings, I'm not too sure how long she's been in Boston, though.

Shelley doesn't voice track Boston WHILE she is on air in NY.

What you're hearing on the web is exactly the same as what is being heard on the air, except for web-specific promos, bits and songs that stream during commercial breaks. As someone who lives in NYC and listens to the Z100 midday show everyday, I can tell you that Shelley really does plug the web site that much in "real life".

It seems as though Clear Channel is focusing so much on their websites lately. If you listen to any Clear Channel site they are way more web driven then they were say this time last year.
