Z104.3 DJs

When is Z104.3 going to have DJs on the air? I don't like to aircheck new stations that don't have DJs yet. How come CHRs always have music sweeps with no DJs right away?

Does anybody know who they are going to be?

The "10,000 songs in a row, commercial free" gimmick is an attempt to gain cume, and then maintain it. Common for a new radio station launching a new format on a frequency.

They need time to hire staff an interview on air talent. These things cant happen over nite.

Maybe not overnight but it would certainly help if they thought ahead and started interviews before flipping the station. This is comparable to opening a new store and simply leaving the doors unlocked and the lights on while they wait for employees to apply for jobs. Did CC not know they'd be flipping the format? Did an engineer trip over a cable and spill CHR all over the Alternative? Was it a latenight poker game and the format was collateral? I would think a station should burst onto the airwaves with all guns blazing and ammo bins overflowing, contests ready to go,bumper stickers printed and being passed out...you know....like an EVENT. The mediocre attitude of radio companies these days just might have alot to do with lousy ratings and uninterested listeners...which should reflect on who bothers to buy ad time.

Well the main goal of flipping is so that NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT! If you started interviewing ppl beforehand, word would get out an it would no longer be a secret. Worst yet, another station could catch wind of it and flip to CHR BEFOREhand. Then you'd be in 'sloppy 2nds'. They must keep it secret from everyone as long as possible.

We've already seen cases where even rumors of a flip leak out an ppl start buying up domain names (.com) to attempt to resell it or hold it hostage from the flipee. and thats just an example of 1 reprecusion.

Who knows if this station will even have an airstaff, they may just use "premium choice" programming on it. Even a big station like Kiss 108 here in Boston is now only live mornings and afternoons.

Yes I must have forgotten the main advantage big money has:the ability and resources to be sneaky and low. Funny how its the same quality your neighborhood B&E artists apply to thier profession. Makes me want to give'em a pat on the back....no thats not a knife in my hand ::)

Anytime a flip happens late in the year like this, it's a safe bet that the station has no budget for new talent until after the first of the year.

If they were making budget they wouldn't be flipping formats.

That's not "sneaky and low", that's real world big boy business.
