Minor correction- "The Nite Show" was not on public access....it may have seemed that it was, but it started out on WBGR in April of 97. After a few years, Dan took time off to finish school and actually ended up interning with Don Imus. When he returned, the show was picked up by WCKD, sister station of WVII in Bangor. I was fortunate enough to have helped out on the show with some cue cards and writing during it's last few months of life. I beleive it was June 2003 when it was cancelled....they were nice enough to let us do one last show. Unfortunately the WVII equipment just suddenly stopped working in the middle of the taping. The news staff were completely freaking out about this- luckily they got it fixed by 11PM so the news was able to air. In the meantime, one of the camera-men grabbed a news field camera and the rest of the show was shot with that on a handheld camera. It was a n absolutely wacky end to a great show.....
Every week the set had to be put together and then taken down. The same spot was used for "So Goes the Nation" which debuted the week after the show was cancelled. The second week of the show Cashman guest hosted.
As someone who has known Dan for about 5 years, I agree with RRHootchieCoo- this kid always has a plan. I don't think anyone takes a job working in a politicians office thinking that it will last forever. With his experience, I'd imagine he would have no problem getting another job in radio or television. He's a well liked individual and has accomplished a LOT for someone who's still only in his late 20's. I wish him the best of luck.
This thread marks the first time I have ever registered on this board to post. Guess I'm one of those "long time reader, first time posters...."
