Z889 WBZC to broadcast Camden Riversharks Games

How do the broadcast of these and Trenton Devils games make sense? Z 88.9 doesn't come in at all in Trenton, and is weak in Camden. Is there anything in place for people AT the games to listen to? (Like a Part 15 translator?)

It makes perfect sense. Do you know where most of the fans of both teams reside? Most of the Trenton Devils fan base is in Burlington County, Ocean and Monmouth. All three Z889 reaches. The do have fans in Mercer as well. Camden Riversharks fan base is Burlington Camden and Gloucester County. All of which you can hear the station. You are correct that our signal is weak in Camden but thats not where the fan base is.

You also fail to realize we have a quality web stream which can be heard on most smart phones using several different apps. Fans can listen to the game through this at the game. Its tough to get a radio signal in an arena (Trenton) anyway.

These partnerships make perfect sense and have been very successful for both parties. It gives BCC students an opportunity to work with a professional team and it gives the teams more exposure on a station that will give them more exposure then if they were on a station like WIP.

Both are great opp. for the teams and the students(imagine wanting to be in sports in college and getting the experience..not to mention how it would look on their resume). The teams will get exposure to people that may not even no they exist..Plus I'm sure with free ticket tie -ins the Riversharks may get some new fans that return after a free experience..It's a nice day going there..esp for people that may not be able to afford Phillies tickets that love bseball.
Dancerevz889 are you sure that the Rivesharks have more fans in Burlington and Glouster County than Camden County? That wouldn't really make sense( I understand not in Camden itself but not the county?). I could even see Glouster..but Burlington?

In Camden it's tough though not impossible to get WBZC. In Trenton, it is impossible due to adjacent WWFM at 89.1. Maybe BZC can broker a simulcast deal with WTSR or stick a webstream-fed Part 15 repeater in the stadium for the Thunder. BZC could provide the Board Op if the College of NJ can't come up with anyone, and TSR could continue to carry its weekend shows on the webstream.

Camden's tougher. The only readily-available noncomm, WDBK, doesn't reach into Camden very well. Perhaps a deal could be worked out with 89.5 in Cherry Hill, which has a great signal in Camden, or even Rowan, though WGLS's signal is limited due to 89.5. The Sharks would have to come up with consideration for any such arrangement. Younger fans with smartphones can certainly avail themselves of BZC's webstream.

Nonetheless, even with the limited signal, the games may attract new listeners and attention to Z-88-9 not to mention the experience the students will get producing the games. Sounds like a good deal.

I never said their fan base was bigger in Burlington. Most sports teams major fan base is in the suburbs and Burlington County is one town over from Camden.

We broadcast the Trenton Devils not the Trenton Thunder. The Thunder did put in a part 15 when Rider was doing their games. Rowan had the Riversharks for two seasons. Honestly there is real no reason to have the games broadcasted in Camden. Minor league teams are more interested in putting people in the seats and not as much for radio broadcast. Most of the fans that go are families and are not as interested in listening to the game while they are watching it. For those that want to we have a great online streaming option with an specific I-phone app coming in the new few weeks. You can always use any of the online apps to listen to us as well.

Speaking of Z88.9, you guys should have won the Best US Terrestrial Dance Station IDMA.

Thanks, but I would have been happy if C89.5 in Seattle won. Those awards are frauds anyway. Spamming votes gets you the win
