Z90's Cha Cha now on KNX

You may remember Cha Cha who did middays on Jammin' Z-90 for many years and later on some Clear Channel stations. Before Z-90 went to its urban format in 1990 it was rock and "Cha Cha" worked there under here real name Karen Harlow. Well she's now doing news anchoring at KNX in Los Angeles. She's anchoring by herself this Sunday afternoon and doing a very good job. Karen was always a very good talent and when I was a VP at Z-90 she quit because of some beef with our grossly under-qualified Program Director Lisa Vasquez. Myself and Alex Diaz lobbied Victor Diaz to let us convince her to come back and she agreed, which was a plus for the station (and got me moved up a few places in the PD's expansive sh*t list).

Are you sure its the same Karen Harlow?
Did she do news during the morning at Z-90 at one time?

Just a side note, I have worked with Karen, she's very talented, in my opinion.

Yes I recognize her voice. I don't know if she ever did Z90 morning news or not, if so, it would have been after Califormula sold it because she did middays there. Most midday hosts are pretty dull but she had a way of connecting with the listeners especially on the phone and she'd work the short phone bits into the show. Off the air she was a very private person and I don't think anyone at the station really knew much about her. She's certainly got to be in her 40's now and it's nice to see she's still working.

She couldn't have becuase she was already working at 9-3-3 when I was at KJoy in 1998, and the Califormula sale was much more recent. By Califormula, I presume you mean Victor Diaz, correct?

That's right, I forgot - she did leave well before the sale.

I'm trying to remember now if Cha Cha did in fact do mornings for a while with the very untalented Rene Sandoval. I have some video I shot for Victor of the two of them doing a remote, one of those fund raising things for "Jerry's Kids." Victor went through all sorts of morning shows trying to find a team that he thought could take on Jef and Jer and one of the shows was named after a couple of what Victor called "the heroes of the Electronic Era," in this case being, as best I can recall, Marconi and Edison.
