Z93 BACK AS A CLASSIC HITS STATION??

Naw.. I really did appreciate you explaining it further. I think we radio folk tend to forget the business side of things. And there are those of us, silly, or not. That do really still care about the music. even though most of the listeners out there do not.

Somehow, I don't feel quite alone in the world anymore. :D

congrats crguy, for you know what so many GM's and PD's don't....that it is indeed the WHOLE PACKAGE that makes up a radio station. It's not JUST the music...not in these times.

Circa 1977, CHR was THAT broad.

Sorry I was slow to respond, been out of town for a couple of days.

You're correct, CHR/Top 40 was indeed very broad.

Thing is, the comment I responded to seemed to be talking very much about rock, not CHR. The latter is (as evidenced by the width you mentioned) usually a lot more forgiving when it comes to how the niche is defined musically.

Any chance Mike Wheeler was living in Atlanta in 1977? ;D
Did we read that he's done classic hits before??

I did overnights there from 76 to 79....that was a great station then. Dan Mason was a great Program Director, and yes, he is now at CBS. He hired me when I sent an aircheck from WSGN in Birmingham...I came over to do the overnights.

I often wish I could go back to those days....my first major market job and I loved it.

30 years later.....I'm a board op; no air talent jobs available in my (major) market city. But, I like it and have become a VERY GOOD board op....you do what you have to do to keep working, and my station & PD is the best!

I miss ATL and read the boards often.
