ZANESVILLE TO GET NEW FM????

I just saw this posted on another site....anyone know anything?

*******************************************************

WKOV-FM Wellston has an app. filed to move to Frazeyburg, with a site a couple of miles north of Gratiot right on the Muskingum-Licking border.

This would be a B-1 on 96.7 that would cover Zanesville. As part of this app., WCMJ Cambridge would move to 102.7, and WBIK, Pleasant City/Cambridge would move its transmitter site so it would not be short-spaced (if beat) to WCMJ.

There is a market hole in Zanesville, now that WHIZ-FM is moving to Baltimore, Ohio to try to be a Columbus station.

Also, WNKO (101.7) Newark, has an app. in to move to New Albany. The site opened up with the request to move the 101.7 in Urbana over towards Dayton.

I understand the Columbus move-ins, but a Zanesville one? It's not like there are a ton of people moving out that way or at least I don't think they are.

WNKO will be barely audible on the east side of Newark if it moves to New Albany. Does the request include a power increase?

I would have to imagine it would be a city of license change too in which case they have no obligation to Newark at all, correct? (not that city of license means much these days anyway)

yep, the COL will change to New Albany.

The Columbus metro needs another class A move-in teakettle like we need a migraine headache. What makes these people think they are going to get enough of the Columbus market to make the move worth the cost? WNKO would be better off continuing to serve the Newark/Zanesville market and leave the metro to the dozens of other rimshots trying to get a piece of the pie.

If I had a guess and believe me its just a guess.......it wouldn't suprise me if WHIZ tried to buy/started talks with the station moving in since they tried to buy the other local signal that is there (WCVZ) and they wouldn't sell.

i saw the coverage map for the station moving to Frazeysburg and it would give good coverage to Zanesville.

No matter what is going on I'm sure that it will be interesting.

Can't wait for the move-ins!!! Get 102.5 and 101.7 in Columbus NOW!!!!!

Lets not forget 106.7!!! I also look forward to 104.3 moving in -- I would love to see Saga split up 103.5/104.3 and do another format in Columbus.

Well Clear Channel either moves it in and has to spin off a current signal, or it sells 106.9 with Marion and whoever buys it gets it as a Columbus move in (Saga)?

101.7 and 102.5.....this will sure get interesting.

The prediction of WHIZ buying it makes sense. My problem is this.
Cambridge's "96FM" has a local morning show and then a satelite format all day. Having said that, they serve that area much better than some CC-owned medium-market signals. The 96.7 out of Jackson also throws on a satelite network. If they are to take the place of "z102" and have local programming and content, then it makes perfect sense to deal with all the powers that are involved with moving things. But, if the current company moves it into Zanesville, slaps a satelite network on and just uses it to broadcast a high school football game that is probably being carried on another radio station to begin with, then what's the point?

My guess - WCMJ will run the same programming on the new frequency (local morning/satellite all day) and if WHIZ buys the new 96.7 signal for Frazeysburg they will also program it the same as their current 102.5
