Checking out the radio dial in the car today I picked up ZAP 89 on 92.7 in Portland.I rode around quite a bit and the signal wasn't great anywhere in the city.It is part of the Worship radio network in Winslow.ZAP 89 is 88.9 in Oakland with translators in Portland at 92.7,Freeport at 98.3,Richmond at 94.5 and Benedicta on 100.7.Radio locator has the translators listed except for Portland. Does anyone know where their signal comes from in Portland?Check out their website. http://www.lightoflife.info/ZAP/index.htm . I live in the North Deering area and couldn't pick them up in the house at all,but got a listenable signal out in the driveway in the car.

According to Radio-Locator, the translators should actually be simulcasting WWWA, which is under the same ownership. But seeing how Family Radio was able to change all of the KEAR San Francisco translators to the new KEAR in Sacramento, it's probably just a technicality.

It's interesting how the Christian radio scene in the Portland area has been growing lately. With K-LOVE actively expanding into New England, and the 93.9 and 98.9 signals supposedly up for sale, perhaps Portland will be seeing another CCM outlet in the near future.

Well first off, using radio-locator is a joke.
A better site to use for this sort of data is www.fccinfo.com

The translator you want is W224BQ Portland.
It is located between Lancaster, Preble, Oxford, and Alder Streets in Portland (in that quadrant),
72 feet above ground level.

look for the little red dot...

I was at Shaws on the Westbrook - Portland line and could barely pick it up on my car radio. If I know the location, it seems that the xmitter is below the hill downtown is on.

Are you talking about the Shaw's in the Westgate Shopping Plaza? That plaza is entirely within the city limits of Portland along Congress Street (ME Route 22).<P ID="signature">______________

> It's showing 250 watts for 92.7 but it must not be up to that yet because the signal isn't that good. The 96.9 translator is just a few blocks away is also up a little bit higher but has a great signal for about a twenty mile radius.
