Zebra

Just played a Zebra tune on my internet station RocknOldies.com, and wondered...since Zebra was such an integral part of our music on WRNO and WCKW back in the 80's and early 90's, are they getting ANY airplay in their hometown anymore? I figure probably not... :'(

I don't think Bayou plays Zebra as much as WRNO did before it's flip... KXOR If I remember plays them but haven't heard it in a while.. But mostly the same two songs "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind The Door" are what's played if Zebra is played however.

Interesting thing though is something I found on yes.net...

Zebra was played twice in Louisiana in the last day (They also were heard in Wisconsin and Indy of all places).. once on KTAL 98.1 (Shreveport) and the two fer on KRDJ... With the song "Who's Behind The Door" being played in all locations.

Le roux (actually originally called Louisiana's LeRoux) is almost never heard outside of "New Orleans Ladies" and then that is a rare hit on gold based a/c stations

Lillian Axe I've heard played on a few stations in Louisiana.. KXOR will play them if they are requested if I remember... I find KRDJ is playing more hair based and 90s rock so I'd figure them also.. but KZMZ has played them on occasion too... but for the most part... other than ads for the band not heard IMO on the 3 major city rock stations in South Louisiana (WDGL,WKBU,KYRK)...

BTW Lillian Axe is supposed to have a new cd out in June called "water's rising"

Remember it well. Consultants killed it...no concept of localism what-so-ever.

thought of it today. and downloaded it from wal mart..napster was down :(..so i cant put it on a mp3 disc :(

not louisian artists but i also remember rno playing planet p, tony carey and donnie iris--no one plays them either..
wfmf played the them to tootsie--no wait--thank god no one plays that now!! :) ;D

Someone from Bayou must be monitoring this board as I heard Zebra's "Who's Behind the Door" about 6:20pm on Monday. I cannot say how much Zebra they play as I rarely listen. I was button-pushing during commercials.

Glad to see Jason is playing Zebra again on 93.7. Somebody call the station and request "Bears" for me.;) An earlier post was dead on about the big corporations knowing zilch about the local music scene. The sad part is they just don't care. Also...concerning LeRoux...I DO remember Carrie's Gone ;)....loved the song...came out in the spring of "83 didn't it? Nobody Said It Was Easy was also one of my faves. As far as the south Louisiana scene goes...ya gotta love C'Vello! I actually played "Jam is Cold" on Rock 93.7!!!lol All the credit for that one goes to Gonzo for allowing me to do that one..;) Check this video for the song! (Ahhhhhhhhh...the memories of The Riverfront).;)
