ZERO TV

Thanks, Message board Police...are you gonna call out the post about KOLD, too? That doesn't have anything to do with Phoenix either...

Actually, it does, since KOLD can be viewed in many parts of the Phoenix area. The Zero TV post is redundant, since it's already on the National TV board, and it's a national topic.

...and we've been using the Phoenix TV board to post items of interest to the Tucson market since it doesn't have a board of its own.

Can we just assume that any topic dealing with Arizona TV is "close-enuf" ?

I notice there have not been very many new threads added on "AZ Radio" - just sayin' -
Do any of us travel around this great State and listen to other radio stations not serving Phoenix?
PEACE...

There is radio outside of the valley.....
Here is Prescott, we have a radio station that has
successfully played the same format since it's inception
in 1981. KAHM FM 102.1 began broadcasting it's
beautiful music format from Badger Mtn and upgraded
it's signal to 58kw atop Mingus Mtn in 1988. While
the format has been abandoned by just about every
other station, they continue to this day and are
available online at KAHM.INFO. Judging by all the
fan mail they receive, they are obviously doing
something right............

I hate to mention this, but aren't they trying to move their signal closer to Phoenix? If that happens, I would not be surprised if they drop the B/EZ format.

I had a conversation with the owner of (franchise?) "MrAntenna".com in Phoenix a few months back. She had actually contacted me after I emailed her asking what antennas they use, and gave her some web links on antenna plans & showed her some pics of my home brews (always make your own, they beat any "store bought" any day).
Apparently, both of us surmised a reason why a lot of folks aren't receiving OTA is - believe it or not - many people had no idea they COULD receive very much OTA with just an antenna. Sounds silly, but it's true. I don't work for a cable provider now, but when I did I was surprised how many of our customers mistakenly believed one could not receive anything OTA - and even more so since the digital switchover. I had to actually work to convince one of our subscribers that a mere antenna would bring her the networks she was missing during our CATV outage we were having at the time. It amazes me how many people don't know that OTA is still an option. This *may* be some reasons why there aren't too many people on OTA only, and zero tv households, I really believe this. I wish more people would go OTA, there are some channels that just don't aren't offered on CATV systems, such as some LP stations and religious/Spanish language stations. I for one enjoy "The Smile Network" KPAZ_DT on 21.5 for children's programming which just isn't offered on Cox Cable. I am a big proponent of OTA and that includes FTA satellite which is practically unknown in N America, and this coming from a person who brought home my bread and butter being employed in the CATV field since 1998. One thing I learned- those ratings companies are LIARS. Don't ever, ever trust their "numbers": to give you a hint, they are purely "Arbitr-ary" hint hint

Not necessarily, at least not yet. They'll have good coverage into the Sun Cities, Peoria, and Glendale, but not so good elsewhere in the Valley if RadioLocator's estimate is anywhere close to reality. That would still be good for Elevator Music for a few years, anyway.
