So what exactly happened here? I realize it was shut down due to a lack of ticket sales. Were bands not getting paid? Was there just a lack of interest? And here's a bigger question: Does this effect the Zew at all or are they such a cult brand that it won't harm them in the least?

Only about 800 tickets had been sold in advance, so some of the deposits for bands weren't able to be made. When some of the bands backed out, WZEW decided to cancel the whole event rather than scale it down.

WZEW will probably be fine, but it will make it harder for them and probably others as well to bring concerts to Mobile.

agreed..... i heard tim camp talking about how at a 2nd tuesday most of the audience planned on going but hadn't bought tickets yet. most common reason stated was they did not know the weather forecast yet. i personally was looking forward to seeing little feat....i've also noticed the stream has been down pretty much since the cancelation of the show.

good to hear from you again william.

I know as radio people we have trouble putting the blame on ourselves sometimes, but couldn't the problem be more than just people didn't know what to expect from the weather? Couldn't the problem be that the folks in Mobile have seen Little Feat, Sister Hazel and Gov't Mule enough times to never want to not be impressed by that concert bill?
