Zippo in the evening, in the evening, on KLUV

I had high hopes, but was sorely disappointed. Zippo is given the standard 6 seconds of chatter and 19 seconds of liner card reading every so many breaks. WHY ON EARTH BRING IN TALENT LIKE THAT IF YOU WON'T LET THEM TALK? And why does his show end so early? Seems like it was only 8PM and Vic Thomas was already on the air. Zippo should have been brought in to do a SHOW, not be a run-of-the-mill jock. Zippo could easily handle doing what Tom Kent or Hubcap Carter once did, or even Jim Thomas on other stations.

And John Summers, can't they find a lackey to do Saturday mornings and give you the day off? I was very surprised to hear you on there, especially running a 'best-of Jody.' Your talent should be appreciated better than that. Hopefully you, Chuck, Catfish and Fast Eddie are just biding time until you all premiere a new oldies station at 96.7!!! We can only hope...

They're probably trying to balance both sides-

There's a fair number of people who probably have no idea who Zippo is
(tangent- talking radio with some people at a kid's soccer game...they asked me what was new and I mentioned Lone Star, bringing back Redbeard, etc...and of the 4 guys I was talking t0, one was like "GREAT!!", 1 had heard of him but was indifferent, and 2 had no idea who he was...)
They're probably telling him to keep it short so not to turn off the peeps who have no idea who he is...

Well how in the world are people supposed to find out who Zippo is, if he's reduced to reading liners? If KLUV's plan was to bring Zippo on board just to read liners, then I give KLUV an F.

Thanks, Mike....The best of Jody Dean ends at 9. Randy Capes from the morning team usually does the honors.

I agree, Zippo is a great PERSONALITY. Why make him read liners? Perhaps since he is new he's just trying to get the basics learned at KLUV. I'm sure they will let him do more personality as he learns the mechanics at KLUV.
