ZOK good book

WOW, WZOK had a great book...up a little. But good numbers none the less.

ZOK and XXQ both did very good... NTA had a nice rebound as well beating out ROK... The funny thing today was that listening to Bruce Buttler he was all excited that they had beaten ROK and that they were the number one AM station in town... I guess he did not see how bad NTA got beat by WGN :), but for a local station I will give him bonus points... I am also impressed how well YRB does in Rockford yet Crawford seems to think Rockford is not on the map... Atleast woth the folks at Good Karma and WKPO they do seem to try to serve Rockford... You're right the book was good...not great, but if you track ZOK over the last few years, the Spring 05 book was the weird one. For a station that had very little marketing and NO big book promotion (gave away purses) it's still good!

However boys and girls...let's keep in mind...it's f-in Arbitron! This is not an exact science. 900 diaries representing a town of 200k...come on!!!!!!!!!

It was a half & half book for the cloud company... Both XXQ and ZOK were up, but The Eagle was way down and ofcourse ROK was down as well... The folks over at Sandy Hollow had a pretty solid book with The X and B 103 leading the way... NTA as stated earlier had a nice rebound, but still got beat by WGN and WYRB... YHY was up a tad, but nothing earth shattering... I don't know the important 25-54 breakdown, but looking at the 12+ you have got to wonder how long MM will let YHY lag behind with it latest version of Classic Rock... Heck if YRB can do as well as they did with nothing to do with Rockford except for a TOH ID just imagine what a station that caters to Rockford could do with UAC... JMO CC1

the zok numbers that i saw were basically flat...until they fix the engineering problems on brendonwood...this station will continue to sound like it is running in mono.

what has happened to classic rock in rockford...it seems like it is dying. the eagle's morning team got dusted by doug mcfluff. and while y95 improved - neither y95 nor the eagle had a good book... i keep hearing how classic rock will be the next format to die (like oldies)...

They were down in am drive, but that should fix itself now that the white trash part of their am show is gone.

So according to you up a full share 12+ is flat?

Number one in Mids and PM drive with the highest PM drive numbers in the history of the station.

Are you in politics - you do know how to spin the numbers...

yes I was wrong ZOK is up a share from the last book...you failed to mention that spring is zok's best book (that's been true for the last three years) and is typical for CHR stations. spring will always be zoks best book as long as 1/3 of the zok audience is 12-24 - that's nothing to be ashamed of - more teens just listen in the spring.

as far as middays and afternoons are concerned you are wrong zok is number two. afternoons are down 10% from last spring.

Bottom line is it was an ok book for zok. zok was off 20% from last springs book and flat versus two years ago. "highest numbers...in the history of the station" - either you don't know rockford radio and the history of what was a great radio station or you just think spinning a story on the radio board is fun.

finally what do you have against Stephanie Troy? lighten up - this is just radio.

Politics...nope!!!! Yeah you're right. I was looking at 18-49 and 25-49. I never look at 12+. 12+ even for a CHR station means nothing!!!!! No one buys 12+ Hell no one buys 18-34 anymore either. The new demo is 18-49 then 25-49...plus also keep in mind that the market has changed. "Back in the day" there was a lot less competition. Nine-FM, KPO, YRB, Z-104...hell even QFL has come on big! The matrix has changed plain and simple!!!!!!!! And if you look back at the last twelve books last spring was the odd book out. That was the fluke not this book.

Cumulus here in Rockford, is kick major butt! And its hard for the competition to keep up with the Eagle and ZOK we own the market. Thanks for trying, but, you all are going to need to run a little faster to keep up with the big dogs...or maybe you should just sit on the porch and stay out of way!
