Zone Mornings? About Time!

I heard Monica Lowe say that Friday was her last day in Mornings? Any idea who they are putting there?

Shawn Cash and Hill Jordan will team up and host mornings at KZZO. Monica Lowe middays. Vanilla Ice does afternoon drive.

Vanilla Ice? Oh, man...that's too good.

To the extreme...he rock a mic like a van-DULL!

Shawn Cash and Hill Jordan.. hmmm. Any thoughts on how this duo will do? Given Shawns unimpressive ratings in the past, and Hill's ego... (just wondering if she got the money she thinks she's worth) I'm not convinced that this is the team that will bring the Zone back to it's great ratings that they had in '97-'99.
I was really hoping the Zone would think out of the box on this one, given that the PD is a New Yorker.. you would hope that he would bring some of that edge back with him. My gut feeling is, "Z" had someone else in mind for this gig, but corporate wouldn't pay, so they settled for these two. Wow. What a surprise.

Just a thought...maybe the "Great Ratings" the Zone had at that time had something to do with the very A.C. friendly artists that were shining at that time...i.e Lilith Fair and the other Alanis type female "alternative" artists who were prevailing just prior to the Boy Band/Teen Pop movement. I realize as "radio people" we would like to think the numbers were merely personality driven...but let's be honest, the music is our master...Cash seems to be a sensible vet, forced into a very uncomfortable position...I wish him the best of luck. Hill Jordan, yet another radio transient who will most likely end up doing traffic reports in Wala Wala Washington. Only time will tell...but mark my words!!

I completely agree with you on the music. I'm wondering if a "Classic Alternative AC" format would ever work here.
However, if you have a morning team that you can't listen to, then more than likely you would miss all that "great" music. For me, I was really hoping the Zone would take this opportunity to do something completely different, whether that meant changing the format to primarily include the music forementioned, and leave the pop top 40 sensations to the End, and compliment it with some 25-54 women friendly hosts. Where's Chris Lane when you need her???

I think it will interesting to listen to the new zone morning show. It could be entertaining or it could be a train wreck. Train wrecks can be entertaining. The Zone has never had a good quality morning show since it's launch back in the late 90's. When the Zone was slaughtering everybody in the Lilith Faire days the morning show still wasn't highly rated. Kim and Marshall in the Morning were actually pretty decent.

When Shawn and Jeff hosted mornings they were not targeting the female audience. The show, for some reason, was very stunt oriented. Perhaps Shawn Cash will learn to do quality show preparation and target females instead of soaking in a hot tub of mayo, weiner wednesdays, or "winging it".

How many morning shows has the Zone had since it's inception?

Agreed with the "entertaining train wrecks", but I will never call Shawn and Hill a "show". It's going to be a competition of words per minutes. The only time I would even refer to Hill having a "show" was that horrible incident at Empire in her last week at KWOD. That was truly a show. I hope none of you had to witness that!

it's actually a pool of Salsa, and nobody died from it

Okay then what about the time Shawn and Jeff sent their producer to Mexico to do play by play from a "Donkey Show"? WTF?
If they did that, thats funny. Seems more like that happened when they were still at kwod. I find it hard to believe they did that under CBS

From what I heard, their leaving KWOD was due to their wanting to be paid respectable morning $$$, as opposed to a Jiffy Lube-level salary.
