Zootopia?

Most of the major-market stations have started talking about their big summer concerts, so I figured we'd have heard from Z100 about Zootopia '06 by now. What's the deal with it? It can't possibly be cancelled...can it?

The show was retired.

Are you serious? Why? Were they losing money?

Weren't station sponsored concerts like Zootopia and Jingle Ball paid for with the money paid by Independent Promoters for exclusive contracts with those stations?

Don't know about other stations but that's not how it works at Z. The station sold the shows just like commercials. So you would have Verizon/Coke/Mandies banners all over the place and in the programs. Then the ticket prices (have you seen how high they are?) paid for the rest. Out of that, the station paid for the acts and the venue and then made a donation to whatever charity they were associated with for that particular show. The main reaason there is no Zootopia is a reflection of just how much effort had to go into planning and pulling a show like that off and just how hard it is to get all that done - using just current staff. The decision was that one show a year is enough. We'll focus our attention on Jingle Ball.
