Zune HD Radios?

Any thoughts on the Zune HD Radio? I'd like to have a new mp3 player I'm not sure if I like the part of the HD Radio, but it may work out OK on that. I can also use it for checking my email and stuff also with out having to bring my laptop every where.

No one I know owns one. So here is a "feel good" review of the Zune HD courtesy of Amanda Alexander:

I own one. The Zune HD probably arguably the best PMP on the market thanks to the Nvidia Tegra platform. The HD radio is ho-hum. Works a lot like the Insignia portable. The headphone wire is your antenna so the HD connection is spotty even close to the towers, but the good ol analog is fine. If you're not listening to the radio the HD chip is off so it's affect on battery is nigh. I don't use the radio that much at all, the drop in/outs of the HD annoy me after a while and I'm near enough radios so I never really bought it for that.

If the HD chip is off, how does the radio detect the presence of an HD signal?

I think he meant while listening to an mp3.

Correct. if you are not listening to the radio, aka listening to music on the device, using the browser or an app etc, the HD chip is off. With the radio on, there is no way to prevent going into HD to remain in analog. I wish there was. It would make using the radio on it much more enjoyable.

As an update to the Zune HD saga, Microsoft has just dropped the prices on both 16 GB (now $190.) and 32 GB (now $250.)

The Zune HD is now at #57 of Amazon's list of top 100 electronics.

This price will probably help Zune sales a little bit. But I can't help but picture Steve Ballmer repeating that famous line, "I swear to God, I thought turkeys could fly."
