KRNZ Now Spanish

Sometime this week KRNZ flipped to Spanish, was Air one.

Around 50 or so miles South of Austin. KZAR is actually only about 15 miles away from Gonzales.

Explains why they changed the format... LOL.

Though I have to wonder, did they sell it? I doubt EMF would run a Spanish station.

The address they gave Radio-Locator goes to Maranatha Church of Laredo.
"We are a Non denominational Bible Church of Pentecostal Doctrine. English/Spanish."
It could be EMF is leasing the station.
They've been doing a lot of that lately.
I guess whatever brings in the most money... pledges from listeners or lease payments.
IIRC-- Clear Channel runs 103.1 in Austin but EMF still owns it.

Radio Locator never fully updates their station listings. That address is for the old church that Tellez had. He sold the CP for that station back in 2005 to EMF. I seriously doubt Tellez is LMA'ing that station back from EMF. He doesn't even have the financial means to build his current stations like Holiday Beach, McCoy, and Encino (even though he has lied to the FCC and filed licenses to cover yet they are not built nor have been on the air). Another member here on the forums has been to the sites and has documented his findings. Not sure if he's notified the commission yet of these violations. But short story here is I'm pretty sure Maranatha church of Laredo is NOT involved with what's on KRNZ.

Yep - it's Spanish Christian, was able to tune it in and heard a song play then a liner for "Radio Nueva Vida" then another song.

New station or is Radio Nueva Vida a network?

Okay it makes sense now, I Googled and Radio Nueva Vida's part of EMF, so they flipped KRNZ to that network as Air 1's on 97.7 already.

Nice to see a legal Spanish Christian music station!

Actually, Radio Nueva Vida is a separate nondenominational organization with objectives very similar to EMF. That is why, when EMF discontinued the use of the "God's Country" format about 3 years ago the switched some of the stations to Radio Nueva Vida in markets where it was appropriate.

EMF bought the station in November 2005 and closed in February of 2006.

Is this station happen to be on 106.3? Because it is usually English and Spanish Christian programming when I can catch the frequency.

Also, Doesn't Marantha also own AM 810 KYTY in Somerset which was LMA'd to Clear Channel for quite some time? Or is it a different Marantha?
And I know there is a Marantha church on Nacodogches and Titan Rd (in the shopping center of the old Video Vision Video Store back in '86) in San Antonio any connection to them?

No 106.3 is KLMR. KRNZ is on 88.1

Different Maranatha also. KYTY is Myron Wade's Maranatha Broadcasting. Israel Tellez is Maranatha Church of Laredo (aka La Nueva Cadena Radio Luz Inc. aka Good News Broadcasting of TX)

It is, now. The station was swapped to them for another one last year and changed it's call letters to KITG. EMF got K224EH in Victoria, and Maranatha got KITG.

I'm posting here because ever since Maranatha got it back, when I've tuned by it, it's been dead air with the transmitter on. The other night I was able to tune it and it was dead air. Now I just came across it again, guess what? Dead air. If they're so poor, perhaps they can turn the transmitter off to save electricity money or lease the station out? They might also want to think about selling some of their other CP's they have, that should make them money if they can't afford to keep these stations up and running.

I heard KITG playing regional Mexican/Tejano Christian music last night. Didn't listen long enough for an ID, but I'm glad it's not a neglected station anymore. Hope it lasts.

I think Tellez very well might be cash strapped. We were an applicant that was MXed with him, agreed to a small settlement and he couldn't pay us. I've noticed at least one case when he transferred a CP to settle a debt...maybe this station.

KITG has seemingly been dead air when I can tune it, ever since about a week after my last post, perhaps a bit longer.
